Yeah they are... very similar to a Jeepney in the Philippines.

            BAHT BUS TAXIS
These are just covered pickup trucks (utes) with bench seats in the back. In town they're everywhere 24hrs a day. Just stick your hand out and they stop for you. They operate on various routes around town, but mostly up and down the Beach Rd / Second Rd loop. Shared trips are 5 baht within Pattaya, although most farangs pay 10-20 baht. Jump aboard and ride the bus until you're close to where you want to go, or to change to another bus. If you want you can hire a bus to take you dirtectly to your destination anywhere in Pattaya. Don't argue with the drivers, agree a price BEFORE you hire one. Don't hire baht buses sitting empty at the side of the road, these are usually scam artists. Simply keep walking and flag one down that's passing by.

I need some info too as I will be going back in January, and the last time I was there, I was on my feet the whole time everywhere It's a looooong hike from Soi 6 to walking street and back...

So, if i understand correctly, one just has to flag a passing bahtbus. Then what? Do you negotiate with the driver or with the "assistant" (say something like "Walking Street" or "Soi 6")? And the usual price is 10 baht per person?

Please forgive the fumbling of a novice

Flag down one that's moving. Jump into the back. Ring the bell when u want to get off. Pay the driver or his assistant 10 baht in exact change.

Most all that you see on Beach Rd drive the loop (Beach Rd / Second Rd). and it worked just like any public bus system back home however with the Baht Bus you pay the driver after you get off at your destination. Just walk up to his driver side window and hand him the cash. Even better if your with a girl let her do the dealing... she seems to pay half what we pay and will pocket the extra cash and be happy about it... good way to start things off.

And if you really like adventure hop on the back of a Baht Bike and hold on! The guy will take you anywhere you like. Price is the same as the Bus.

No need to be walking Soi 6 to walking street€¦ it€™s too hot for that. Save your energy for the Ladyboys!!!
The first time I went to Pattaya I took 2 girls from Bangkok I met in Nana as tour guides. They showed me around and how to use the Baht Buses, Beaches, Bar€™s, etc€¦ really paid off.

Hmm, when I was there last month, I hooked up with Die but she had only been there a few days (so she said) and did not know how the baht busses worked... I DID ask, and try to find out...
I'l try to get some local talent to show me the ropes

use motorbike taxi. nighttime the bahtbusses/song-thaew move very slowly as they close to walking street. the fare is 20/30b within pattaya.
