I already have one of my dream cars ""1970 Superbee""

Sir Miramark; My opinion of you has now doubled.
The only thing I ever had that was close was a 69 RT-Charger. The only part that wasn't stock was somebody switched the tri-carbs for twin 4bbls. Breathtakingly fast.
I had a neighbor (early 1970's) who had an ac cobra, and a porche speedster. He gave me a ride in the ac, and I think he never made it out of 2nd before I had to change my shorts. 440 RT's were fast, but nothing like an AC.
      ......superbee...thanks for the memories MM

I have the same almost stock 1948 Panhead I've had since I was just out of highschool. I've had other HD's too but the Pan will be with me throughout. As far as cars, the only thing that makes me smile is the new Hemi Magnum wagon. It's a cocky lookin car.

I had a 1968 R/T Cornet to. Had a 440 in it, but I traded it for a 318 with a shift kit in it.
O.k. Randyman, get a Load of this.  My Superbee was a Special edition with a unique chassis.  The paint is a little deeper in tone ((Lemon/Lime Mopar Green w/BLack strip.)), but the Layout is stock.  Guess who odered the superbee ?
ART ARFONES.  Who sold it to Arland Vankee, who in turn sold it to Carl Velecca whom traded it to me for a 1964 1/2 Mustang and $1,000. cash.

I don't know if any of you know who these people are I've just mentioned, but in the 1970's, Art Arfones and Arland Vankee were World renouned race car drivers.  I grew up in Akron Ohio and Lived in the same neighborhood with Art and Arland. My father was a racer and often took me to Arts house to drink beer and work on cars.  And about three blocks from me Lived Larry Csonkas sister who baby sat me a few times.  Never met Larry, but my understanding of it is that he grew up in Stow Ohio.  I have all kinds of brushes with Fame.  My backyard was Firestone Country Club (World Series of Golf) and about a 1/2 mile due east of my house was where they use to have the
World Pro bowlers Championships at Arlington Bowling Center.

Well, I bragged enough for one day. Just thought Randyman might enjoy the Story of where my car came from, and to hear whos kids I used to hang around with (Arts and Arlands kids).  I'll save the story of the Martin brothers for another day.

1966 Shelby Cobra... It would have to be a replica though, cause originals sell for more than $150,000 IIRC

I'd settle for a Mazda RX8 and the difference in cash.

I love the RX-8, but I'm sick of torque-less wonders. The RX-8 has amazing design, but the performance leaves a lot to be desired. Everyone else let the rotary die in peace, why can't Mazda? They should have used a hi-perf version of the turbo 2.3L that's in the Mazdaspeed 6. That would have been a Z killer for sure.

I'm no car expert, but I'll relate this.

I saw a family getting out of their RX8 at the gym the other day. I asked them how they liked it, would they get another one etc.

The mom said boys pull up next to her in their Mustangs and want to race, and she blows them away.

                            A comparison:

                            Mazda RX-8: 238hp @ 8,500rpm and 159 lbs/ft. @ 5,500rpm w/ curb weight of 3,059 lbs.
0-60 in 6.4 seconds (from mfg)

                            BMW 330ci: 225hp @ 5,900rpm and 214 lbs/ft. @ 3,500rpm w/ curb weight of 3,285 lbs.
0-60 in 5.9 seconds (from mfg)

                            Mustang GT: 300hp @ 5,750rpm and 320 lbs/ft. @ 4,500rpm w/ curb weight of ? (couldn't find)
0-60 in 5.3 seconds (from mfg)

Facts pulled from manufacturer's websites or marketing material I picked up from the LA autoshow. You can do the math . Those boys in the Mustangs must be driving with a trunk full of bricks.

An Aston Martin, any one. For me, it's not how fast you go, but how you go fast. Having this car stamps you as a man of impecabile taste and wealth. Describes me to a "T." Nothing wrong with tooting your own horn.
