Which webcam?

Knowers of all things (or at least Bam):

Which web cam(s) do you all use? How much should one spend? $20? $50? $100?

I've looked at them over the years, and my impression is that they were all crap 5 years ago, and it looks like they might still be crap. Is that the case?

i think flirt4free.com charge $5/min. havent gone "priv" with the girls so i cannot confirm if the quality is acceptable or not. if the quality is the same as free live-peep, its absolutely not worth it.

There seems to be a bunch out there - Logitech and Creative Labs seem to be the most popular. I still suspect they might all be crap. The quality #s look so much lower than for digital cameras. What's up with that?

Don't go for Logitec..Crap of all Craps!
There are some chinese made ones now that cost as little as USD 10 and are quite good, with diods at the side of the lens that can pick up all residual lights and give a god picture eben in scarce light conditions w/o the need of switching on lights.
Unless you want to enter into the biz yourself I would go for China made cam...definitely!

I've tried several cams from $29. to $129. with very Little difference in quality.
Ranges from 35 to 40 frames per second. I've tried the CAMS on;
Lan, T1 and Cable Modems and I have yet to be impressed by anything in the consumer market.
The only CAM that I truely enjoy is my Canon Elura 70. Its a Top rate camera. It does everyting you can think of, even a Analog to digital pass through converter. I have taken some Old VHS Cassettes, Played them on my VCR, captured them with My Canon Elura and passed it through to my P.C. to create DVDs.

As a Webcam, I can record to DV tape instead of saving it on my P.C. I can go on and on about this camera. Unless if they can put a Cell phone/P.D.A. in it, it will be the Last camera I will ever purchase.

I've seen specifically one model in one shop only here in Hong Kong sold at the equivalent of about USD 10.00 but in other shops it was a more expensive, no reasons why honestly!
