  • March madness sweet 16 pool

OK, the original pool didn't work out so let's try something really simple for the Sweet 16.

1)You pick the winner of each region, in other words the four teams in the final four. You get 1 point for every one of those four teams you get right.

    2) You pick one of your final four as champion. If you pick that right you get an additional 2 points.

So the max number of points you can get get is 6 if you picked every region right ad the champ.

    3) Tiebreak- Pick the total points of the final game. Whoever's closest in either direction wins.

So that everyone can play even if you don't know a thing about college hoops here's some hints. I've listed the the four teams in each region with their original seeding (there were originally 16 teams in each region). The teams with a seeding close to 1, tend to be the better teams.
For the tiebreaker scores between 130 and 160 would be the most reasonable picks.

    Atlanta Region:
    1-Duke
    4-LSU
    6-West Virginia
    2-Texas

    Oakland Region:
    1-Memphis
    13-Bradley
    3-Gonzaga
    2-UCLA

    Washington DC Region:
    1) UConn
    5-Washington
    11-George Mason
    7-Wichita State

    Minneapolis Region:
    1-Villanova
    4-Boston College
    3-Florida
    7-Georgetown

          Duke,UConn,UCLA,Florida....champion...Duke...148 pts

These are my picks, but I'd rather see an underdog like George Mason win. Texas has a chance to sweep...baseball, football, and basketball...but they don't have a true point guard and it shows in tight games.

By the way, Pigdogg, knowing that you are a NFL fan, what do you think about TO going to Dallas? Jerry Jones has lost his freaking mind...or what? How long can Parcells and TO stand each other?

Signing TO makes sense in the current NFL mindset that you talent/playmaking abilities trumps almost everything other than child molestation and rampant drug use. The first thing on everyone's mind is to win first and think about the consequences later.

However, the thing that does not make sense to me is signing him to such a huge contract with large bonuses. None of it seems to be contingent on behavior clauses (at least which have been made public). Given TO's past shitty behavior, you better believe I would not give him tons of guaranteed money. He would have to earn my trust. My odds are about 70:30 that he will destroy a third team.

as opposed to baseball where using the RIGHT drugs just gets you a definite spot in the hall of fame, but gambling screws you forever -- IF you get caught.

dang it, skooter, you done made all my picks already!
guess i'll have to let it ride on the point total in the finals and take the 'under', going with 147 points.

i don't know if george mason has the depth to go much further, but whoever comes out of their match with wichita state will take a major 'nothing to lose' attitude up against a really up tight uconn team. could be fun.

It's really all about the contract, I'm not sure how much is guaranteed and exactly what kind of misbehaviour clauses mya exist..

TO is an intelligent articulate guy not a street thug. If he wants to he'll make it work. He's an employee that doesn't belive in kissing the bosses ass. He's set for life; why should he kiss ass? But the bonuses may incentive him to keep his nose clean.

I agree that T.O. is a helluva football player and is not the reason the Eagles fell apart...an incredible number of people say he 'destroyed' both the 49ers and Eagles...but let's say you're a Giant's fan...would you want him?
Well good luck to everybody. I was hoping to see Randyman's West Virginia pick. I hope we have more players before Thursday night.
Oh, what are/is the Pattaya Hash House Harries???
