I've got a "friend" who is going to be spending a few days in a tropical location in Thailand. He's asked my advice about the various beaches that this wonderful country has to offer. The guy has given me a list of places that he's read about or is semi-familiar with, but as I've only been to the major destinations, I'm afraid I'm not much help. Anyways, out of the options listed, what is your favorite beach and why (if you want to respond). Also, he's not into LBs so do not factor that into the equation.

Been to all of them several times and Hua Hin wins hands down.
Having said that it depends on what he is looking for in regards to beach, sand, clean water, entertainment, food, tourist value, GG's etc
Tell him to check out my website www.mythaitravel.com as I wrote a full report on Hua Hin after my 4 day visit there over Songkran this year.
However, the GG's are very average (mainly Issan and well fed) so he should consider taking some company with him if that's his style.

Taking the question literally, I think Chaewang on Samui is the best beach. The sand is great, the beach deep, not too crowded on the south end (unlike the major Phuket beaches) and the water always perfect."Snick, You Sperm Too Much" - Anon

Hua Hin is way too small and always flooded during night time, Chaweng is normal, nothing spectacular and too dirty for my taste. Pangan is actually very nice, but also a bit dirty and too many people - although I haven't been there since ages.
I've to admit, for the beaches I'd never go to LOS. PI beaches are light years better! Absolute Robinson feeling!!! - although beach life (bars, clubs, etc.) is not comparable to Thailand.

The best beaches are the ones without the tourist horde, back packers, & gawping masses. So its off to the Philiipines!Robin
You pays your money & takes your chance. This isn't a rehearsal do it now, it's no good looking back when it's a lover & wishing.... ITS TOO LATE.
