(dummy_plug @ May 26 2006,12:37) It's my understanding that being transgendered should have almost no bearing on whether you get a visa or not. I could be wrong, but from what I know about friends and families obtaining visas is whether or not you are at risk of overstaying your visa. The main factors typically would include financial situation, type of employement, family connections in the USA and at home, and age.
I think you are basically correct, but since ladyboys almost always fall under one or more of the risk categories you mention, those that do are not going to get a visa, so we often say they can't because they are a ladyboy, when it more their being a bargirl ladyboy from a poor financial background except for that one tenth of one percent. There was a guy who was talked about on the forum a year or so ago who got a tourist visa for his lb friend to come here, but every possible circumstance in her case was perfect as i recall. monied family, never been a sex worker/bargirl, had traveled and returned to thailand from other countries. her american friend had a business in thailand that showed he would definitely need to return and since he sponsered her, that also showed even more her likelyhood of returning. cases like this are very few and far between.

Being ever a bar girl would preclude them unless they were married to an American, which again can't happen because the good Christians that wield their power will never allow same sex marriage.
also, i've heard that with thai ladies, our ins looks at them all as bargirls until proven otherwise. that may just be an unfounded net rumour though. i don't personally know anyone who has married a thai gg bargirl to see how much trouble they had getting a visa

The most important thing is what country you are from. Do you think anybody from HK or Taiwan or Singapore would have problems at all? I wish they did so my parents wouldn't be here bothering me now.
But China, same race, is a totally different story. When you have people hidden in container and shit, you can't expect US to not be suspeciouse. A chinese lawyer once tole me if US allow chinese to get tourist visa easily, we would have 1 billion more people tomorrow. we can pick and choose our own small group but the policy makers have to make rule for the general. Yes, unfortunately they have to stereotype. The same way you expect women to do this, old people to do that, otherwise nothing can function. You wouldn't expect the congress get together discussing how the Thai LB should be allowed as a special group because bunch of ATS forum members are so horny ...
I do not like a lot of things Chritians said/did too, but to somehow streach this issue to them - single out them as a group shows that you just watched da vince Code and have a lot of anger to let out ..
Finally, don't be silly. I know too many immigrants - I am one myself, legal or illigal - they all want to stay. and yes, even tourists want to stay too. And magically, only people who wouldn't violate the law to stay in US are the ones we give out VISA easily. These peolpe have a lot experiences dealing with this. They are not just being right winggers. You said it yurself, it's tough way before 9/11. "Way before 9/11" was when we had Cliton for 8 years....
