(gunslinger @ Jun. 19 2006,16:17) I saw a movie last weekend in MBK called "The last Song" with a ladyboy as its central character, despite being a bit disjointed at times as most Thai movies are (they can never really seem to make a film without some out of place slapstick comedy in it) it did have some pretty poignant moments.
I saw this one as well, its the first Thai movie that I've watched without falling asleep during so I suppose it must have something going for it, also point to note when we went to see it about half the audience were also ladyboys.........

Not a bad place to pick LBs as several LBs I've spoken with have seen it and have gone with their LB friends. Man...can't believe I missed this great opportunity...to uh, see a good movie, yeah that's it.
I'm a rough-ridin', hootin' and hollerin', ladyboy lovin' cowboy! Bang bang yer dead!!!
(dummy_plug @ Jul. 03 2006,07:46) Curious if anyone has found a torrent on the net of this. Highly doubt it, but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask!
I looked around, both on Bit Torrent and Peer-to-Peer Hubs (DC++). I did find one P2P hubber who has a ton of Thai movies w/ English subs, but he didn't have The Last Song (Pleng Sud Tai). My guess is that the original did not have eng subs, but when the current version comes out on DVD it will (obviously). I imagine you can buy bootleg copies (VCD) of the current version but probably without eng subs (unless it's a cam job from one of the theatres here showing it with subs).
Might be easiest to wait for the for the current release to come out on DVD?
I am currently downloading a lot of Thai movies with eng subs currently via DC++ and P2P.
Care to name some of the better Thai movies when you get the chance? I'm actually a big foreign film freak, but I don't want to waste my time DLing movies if they don't have subs or if they suck. From what I've heard, Thai cinema isn't renowned for its artistry!

One of the best films I saw at this year€™s Bangkok Film Festival, was €œInnocence€ (Dek Toh). This film was made by Areeya (Pop) Chumsai and Nisa Kongsri. (every LB will know Pop Chumsai; she was Miss Thailand 1999, and still makes commercials). It is a documentary about a school in northern Thailand, and each year the graduating students take a trip to see the ocean.
Ruang talok 69 (1999)
Satang (2000)
The Tin Mine (2005)
Gitarajan (1996)
Any films with Sombat Metanee, form the 1960€™s and 1970€™s, a sort of Thai Clint Eastwood, now he€™s a MP, or Senator.

There is a scene in the movie where the main character laments how ladyboys can never find lasting love like other people and are destined to live out their lives alone "in the darkness." Which was actually quite moving.
A slow day on the forum so i thought i'd trawl through
the archives.
This delightful creature, also the face of Yanhee Hospital,
completely lost the plot when she lost out on the Miss
Tiffany crown to the lovely Nong Poy,shouting at the top
of her voice how it should have been her.......ummmm!
I was sharing a joke with Bird (the 2003 winner) she
thought we was laughing at her, gave me the icey glare,
i shrugged it off,pop outside to see some friends, she
follows me out and starts chasing me round the
fountain...i had running shoes on so there was no
problem out pacing her, unfortunately i couldn't out run
the (plastic)bottle of water she threw
She could pitch for the Yankees...
Never seen her since except in this movie, and i honestly
think i wouldn't want too either...
