Thai movie

I saw a movie last weekend in MBK called "The last Song" with a ladyboy as its central character, despite being a bit disjointed at times as most Thai movies are (they can never really seem to make a film without some out of place slapstick comedy in it) it did have some pretty poignant moments.
There is a scene in the movie where the main character laments how ladyboys can never find lasting love like other people and are destined to live out their lives alone "in the darkness." Which was actually quite moving.

There are at least two other Thai movies with ladyboy themes: Beautiful Boxer and one about a volleyball team.

beautiful boxer is actually decent.  i would recommend seeing it if you have an interest in thai kickboxing or ladyboys.

Good question! For some weired reason the Thais always use "guys in disguise". Beautiful Boxer was ok, but the guy was really not very believable in the LB role, which gives those movies always a bit of a "Some Like It Hot"- clownesque touch. The Iron Ladies was even worse, especially Part II - as always!
There must be some acting talent among those zillions of LB's in this country, but either they are too lazy with the casting - very likely! - or - what I suspect even more - they are not interested in building up a serious LB actress.

There are lots of bad thai movies staring LB. Last year there was one about 3 over the hill cabaret stars who became bank robbers, or something like that, never saw it.

Was this the one that was on Channel 4 in the UK and I would guess Discovery or HBO in the US ?

Hi Road Runner, not sure if this may be the movie you are talking about - was a movie about two teen lbs who try to break into the cabaret circuit in an attempt to escape rural poverty.

It was broadcast on UK Channel 4.

Hahaha....yeah, that's so true! Saw both - and both are horrible!
By the way, the woman who plays the mafia boss in "Tom Yam Goong" is Jin Xing, the famous Chinese post-op dancer. Quite a good part though. Prachya Pinkaew (Ong Bak) is an excellent director!
