I think a lot of people are over rating Beckam. His one-touch football and insistance on taking all free kicks and corners isn't helping the team. At least over the past three games it doesn't appear to have done...

...that said the qualifying otrnament is over and the Englsih team actally did better in qualifying than in any other competition in recent history.

Now comes the real tournamnet.

It has to be said also that the way the games have been arranged have really favoured the Engish, too. Traditional enemies will have to wait before they get their chops into our bulldog rumps!

I'd be surprised if we lost against Equador and I'd love to see Argentina soon!

If Argentina win tonight England can then only meet them in the final.

If Argies loose tonight then we will probably get them in the quarters.

Beckham had a bad game last night. I admit his legs had gone but he is a good leader and and an icon. Also we wouldnt have qualified without him....his long passing is  sublime. He did one long pass to Rooney last night that had the commentator gasping in amazement.
Its these small moments that could define our chances
Beckham was voted man of the match in the Trinidad game and scored our first goal against Paraguay so he cant be that bad.

Having said that there are a few hi profile pundits asking for Becks to be dropped.

The Socceroos gave the rest of the world a lesson in soccer tonight as they tenaciously sent the Croations on a homeward bound journey out of Germany.

Apart from the last 10 minutes when the European team started playing with some urgency the Aussies (despite the score line) had the game well under control.

Top marks for passing, ball control and patience. It helped that the English ref obviously likes Fosters!

Next game against Italy!

I've been wrong all along about the Antipodean game... I hope I'm wrong again when I predict they'll finally be exposed for what they are against giants Italy.
