  • Grunyen is Post Op!

    Hi guys.

We have previously discussed kidney stones and gallstones.

Well, last Thursday I went in to the hospital for my scheduled surgery. I had my gallbladder taken out.

The Dr.s said it was irritated, inflammed, and had some infection and scar tissue built up. The operation took about an hour longer than they expected it to. I was kept in the hospital for two nights and then allowed to go home.

I'm a little sore around the middle now, and I have Percocet to take when I need it. I have eaten several regular meals now with no problems so far. I'm looking forward to trying pizza tomorrow night.

For anyone with gallstones, I can say I'm glad to have gone through the surgery so far. There were some crummy parts, I'm not a big fan of needles, and I got stuck A LOT. The anesthesiologist blew 3 veins in my arms trying to put my IV in before he finally got a nurse to get one to stick.

While I was in recovery, on my second or third bag of fluids, my IV blew out the vein in my wrist and it hurt and swelled up, but not too bad, because the nurse had just changed it out, she was able to quickly take it out. It did mean however that they had to poke another vein to start a new IV.

I should be getting less sore in the next few days, and I'm trying to rest in bed as much as possible between classes. Hopefully this will be the complete end of my gallstone problems.

Again guys, if you have gallstones for sure, don't wait too long to get it worked on. The Dr.s said I should have had this done earlier and I was lucky that the scar tissue and infection was not worse.

If anyone has any questions, I'll try to answer them.

Grunyen, get well soon! My dad had the same procedure done a few years ago.

Had this done as well about 10 years ago! I can tell you, that was the best thing I ever did. Had major problems with gallstones before - and that's really not fun, as you know! Since then, no problems at all. I eat and drink whatever I like - and I'm a crazy foody!!!
Wish you a speedy recovery and a fantastic medium rib-eye with a nice Silver Oak cabernet in latest 10 days!

            Thanks for the well wishes.

It's relieving to hear all the stories who got the procedure and have been great ever since.

We went out for pizza last night and I had no problems, so that was a big celebration.
