The quest for spiritual comfort through religion is much like the kind of redemption that people who pursue plastic surgery crave for.

This arrogance that we are somehow more important and more worthy that what we are born with and worse - that we can possibly cheat our destinies by behaving in a certain way are simply beyond my understanding.

At least with plastic surgery there is a process and set of guidelines to help you seek a logical path. With the quest for spiritual salvation there are no such safeguards and you end up with freaks who sound mentally unstable, as a result of being misled by demons preaching the word of an invisible idea with no basis in fact.

Frankly; the army of boy-buggerers out there destroying young lives is a crime against humanity.

i guess you love the attention boxerc, be one against all, and maybe you should make a bigger point of 'why your ideas are slagged on a board with so many open-minded people'.

look at history, religion is root to most evil, even today. actually i dont even take thais seriously. believe in ghosts and shit like that. i stopped believe in faitytales (including god) after i found out my dad was dressing up as santa claus. maybe a psychiatric will say this shockening episode is the reason why i fancy men dressed up as ladies

(boxercr @ Sep. 02 2006,12:29) It doesn't matter if you are heterosexual, gay, or transgendered because all who sin need forgiveness
Humans invent morality... its all in your head. there is no universal frame of reference for morality .... ...just think how many different religeons there are.... thousands..
why should your god matter any more that some Inca Parrot headed god.

anyway, who created GOD............, and if he has been around since infinity then wouldnt he be bored by us.

        Forget faith , find reality.....

I watched a Tibetan movie called Samsara on the weekend, the cinematography was great but I found it a bit slow. It's about a monk who leaves the monastery because he falls for a local girl who he later marries. I was expecting exploration of how great and wonderful the Buddhist religion is and was pleasantly suprised when it showed it to be a very selfish act. Basically when things went bad he couldn't hack it so he packed his bags and went back to the monastery. Don't worry about his family as long as he can enlighten himself.

Like Stogie said I feel that religion is for the superficial and weak minded.

Sorry for dragging this thread out of the depths I'll let it sink back down again.
I don't get it, is this a magic show?

Fuck...I go to Thailand for three weeks and miss this...

"True Believers" are frightening folks...Just look at
all the Christian and Muslim "True Believers" that
              surround us all every day.

By my defination a "True Believer" is anyone that requres the validation of others to confirm their belief...

I'm very comfortable with what I believe, and I don't
need to convince the world that I have found the
              chosen path...

I just want to die someplace warm...

Anyone who needs convinving that religeon is tripe should read Richard Dawkins new book ,, the God delusion,, . looks like a good read. He was interviewed on the TV last night by Paxman who failed to trip him up
after 10 minutes of poking and prodding.

Dawkins is real no nonsense cold hearted bastard and a  greatly revered scientist who is one of the great evolutionary theorists of our time. basically he says that Religeon is an easy way out for people who need a comfort zone and cant face reality. The universe is a very unforgiving place and we are here just by luck.

The Telegraph actually said it is an entertaining and witty book from a deadly serious guy.

My next  bedtime read for sure!

I read his book the Blind Watchmaker a few years ago which I found helpful in understanding the evolutionary process. His new one sounds good.

I am currently reading Unintelligent Design by Robyn Williams (not the comedian) which is a witty attack againt the so called intelligent design theories which have gained favour recently. It's scary to think that some of these people have the ear of politicians and policy makers.
