  • scimmers in los?

with the eu-regulltions, eastern european mafia is travelling unhired around in europe. they have a very neat method to empty peoples account by adding a scanning-device, or a so-called scimmer, to the atm. its done by replacing the front of the atm.
with so many atm's popping in thailand, and in pattaya there are many atm's quite remote, especially around the family markets/7-11s outside the typical tourist areas. it should only be a question of time before this kind of scam hits thailand too, or have anyone seen anything about this on the local news already?

dont think many from this board travel to bulgaria, but i just read in the local news here its a big in the main tourist areas ..

Think this is another reason why it's not a good idea to keep too much money in your primary checking account.
Think it's best to keep keep funds in an online banking account and electronically transfer to your checking account.

At ING you can get 4.4% on your money and whenever you need it there's a free electronic transfer to your checking account.

If you're interested I can send you a special link where you get a 25 buck bonus for openning this free account.
    For only.

But I'm sure there are good alternatives foer and

Good info...I'll give it a look...

I've read some warnings about ATM skimming in Thai on my wanderings around the Web...

That's why I only use ATM machines outside banks and only during banking hours...

And why do we have the smallest fucking flag

Think they're tyring to tell us Yanks something?

The so-called skimming is being done everywhere in the world and not just in Thailand. The best way to protect yourself is to setup another bank account and use this account just for ATM and POS (Point of Sale) debit card use... you don't keep much money in this ATM card account. Have your bank set you up so your have the 2 accounts connected but only online... not through the ATM card. This way you can logon to your bank accounts by way of your computer and simple do a transfer of funds from your main account, with all your money, to your ATM card account... you only transfer what you'll need for that day... and this will be all that will be available to the ATM card so if you got skimmed there would be little for them to get at and your real bank account will be protected since it won't have any ATM access.
