Along with Sam Cooke probably the man who invented Sould music and later on, along with Sly & the Family Stone and George Clinton the man who invented Funk.
I saw him in concert around 1993 and despite his age, he was still putting on a good show.

I was lucky enough to see him at the 2004 Blues & Roots Festival in Byron Bay. A bit past his prime but the great artist always have something special about them.
