Rabindranath Tagore, Asia's first Nobel Laureate.

        That was easy.

Edited to add: the photographer was Martin Voss, taken 14 July 1930.

No problem. I knew immediately who it was based on my interest in the films of the great Indian director Satyajit Ray. Ray not only made an autobiographical film about Tagore, he used ideas, themes ands stories from Tagores' writings.

Tagore's meeting with Einstein was covered heavily during the time, hence the photograhper being present, and is reviewed by scholars to this day.

You can find the complete text of their conversation by Googling "Tagore and Einstein".

Regarding the value of your photograph, I have no idea but there is currently an Ebay auction on one. Bidding starts at 1,000 USD and the estimated value is 2,000 ~ 3,000 USD.

              Link to E-Bay Auction

If the photo is origiinal and not a copy, you bet its worth money. With photos from that era, the photographer made 100's of copies and sold them to earn his living. It very well may be a original but a limted edition of the first print , similar to a limited edition of a painting or etching. My advice would be to send a e-mail to MOMA in NY. and get an aprasial as it very well may have historical significance. If that was the case it could very well be priceless.

                  The photographer definatley
Inked his signature on the Photo.   The paper feels very smooth but on very thick paper,  I can't tell if its a copy or real photo.

I really appreciate all your information guys.   $3,000.   I probably should have it cleaned and Framed.    There is no way in Hell I'd ever sell it.    The history of it is far more valuble to me than a few Thousand dollars.

Besides,  what would I do with $3,000. ?    Buy beer and go to BKK.
Hey,  what a minute,  what the Fuck am I saying.

ANYBODY wanna buy my pic' so I can go to BKK ?

Thnx again Fucker's for your help.    I accuired the picture from my physics teacher at Arizona State University.    When he died his Daughter asked me to clean out his Storage unit in Mesa Arizona.   As I was cleaning out his storage  I was coming across all his writtings and Mathmatical Formulas pertaining to Lighting and Radiation.   I still have alot of his work.
This guy was a Total Math freak.

You could contact the gallery currently selling a similar print on the E-Bay auction site. It seems like they have experience?

Without a proper assessment and documented provenance you might be hard-pressed to have a successful private, direct sale.

Note the detailed description of the print for sale. Does your print match?

You could toss it up on E-Bay, with a high reserve, and see what happens?
