  • (thaibound @ Jan. 09 2008,14:47)  i'd have to put global warming closer to the 'evolution' end of the spectrum.
I agree with you on that Thaibound

    anyway
There is no where in the IPCC reports that state
,, this is the truth and 100% fact,,. Science does not claim to be correct,it only gives  only reasonable explanations at any one point in  time. The press and Govts put the alarmist spin on it not the whitecoats.
I talking about blaming the recent floods in England on global warming and stupid stories like that.

    Science does not stand still.
The report is pretty complex and every week it is reviewed for bugs and gliches. Like Stewart said it probably is far worse than reported and the Govts have waterd it down.

Far worse problems lie in store . If everybody on the planet would have the same lifestyle as the average American it would be equivelant to 79 billion people alive. And it is moving that way...China, India , Brazil..these guys are not going to settle for much less in the next 50 years.

You can't have it both ways Tomcat.

You can't say on the one hand the scientists are objective and that their report is reviewed every week "for bugs and glitches" and that it is the governments which spin politicize things, while simultaneously writing that the politicians have already manipulated the report such that "...it probably is far worse than reported and the Govts have waterd it down."

That is science in drag. It is injecting your own opinion into a process that is already so subjective and opinion-laden as to make your assertions totally meaningless.

Follow the money... Who has the most to gain, financially and otherwise, by heaping coal on this smoky fire? Politicians, who are the take by interested parties...
The scientists, who's grant-submission process is coloured by whether they buy into the accepted dogma...
The news media, which loves a gloom-and-doom story...
The European media, which loves a reason to bash yanks...
Environmental organizations run by human-haters who would rather see poor people (especially Africans), starve, get sick and burn firewood, than have access to new technologies that would improve their situations.

(Fred_Nguyen @ Jan. 08 2008,18:52) And yes, people in America really do hate Gore that much.
only the ones who voted for the creationist who won the iowa caucus last week.
Spend a little time travelling throughout the US... I bet you'll find plenty of Democrats who sneer at Gore...
        (thaibound @ Jan. 09 2008,14:47)
i think 'intelligent design' would be a better example of 'group opinion' passing itself off as science. i'd have to put global warming closer to the 'evolution' end of the spectrum.
        This is a political opinion.

You own opinion is evidenced by use of the clause "I think" and your statement "i'd have to put global warming closer to the 'evolution' end of the spectrum."

There are plenty of atheists and anti-theists who are skeptical about this environmental dogma being rammed down everyone's throat! Skepticism is not within the domain of any single political party...

        • (stogie bear @ Jan. 09 2008,15:10) Over population will sort it self out. There will have to be mass genocide to do this and wars will take care of it. (Say goodbye to Europe!)
Fundamentalist Islam poses a much greater immediate threat to Europe, and the human race as a whole, than sunspots or carbon-dioxide...

Global warming will get a boost when Al Qaeda starts using nukes...

I am not asking for it both ways.

The Govts have waterd it down but the report and updates are still available to the public and so one can make their own opinion. I dont take any notice of  tabloid newspapers...

Science is a moving body of knowledge and so as new evidence comes to the for so the main picture changes.
Thats just obvious isnt it. We cant know everything all at once... even Einsteins theories will be overturned eventually. Its simple... there is a danger that we may be in fact fucking the planet up.. perhaps we better do something.,, or not as the case may be.

You said the report is rubbish and not science which is just plain stupid and gives less currency to your argument. Im not saying that Sceptics dont have a point , of course they do... Scientists are the biggest Sceptics by nature

btw..and you have the cheek to quote the Boston Globe as a source , that article was probably written by the teaboy

Several "authors" in fact have disassociated themselves from from that politicized report. And a number of scientists who disagree have come forward in opposition to the IPCC report.

                  But, the science is "settled".
