Anyone see the UK papers today with the zillion pound double page ad about flying...this is a hot topic in the UK and my bet is that within five years we will have restrictions...the ad is obviously a sinister spoof but a very expensive one.....

The ad has to be seen to be believed and below is just somesnippets.

Who paid for the ad, and which way is it trying to promote?

you are not the only one. Its very very confusing....

One page has a  piccy of a slick waspy business guy ranting in favour of the pro flying lobby

The other page has a penguin piccy and the eco argument against flying

Actually the ecos have spoofed the pro side so that they look good, its pretty near the mark and i am surprised that this was published. It will make the TV news tonight, thats for sure

On the BBC a few months ago they were interviewing some airline analysts and they said that the contribution from airline travel to carbon emissions was miniscule in comparison to cars.

I do agree that something needs to be done about this, but also the new jet engines of today are around 15-20% more efficient than those of 15 years ago. Research has to continue on, and priority should be on reduction of significant contributors to carbon emissions.

Aircraft emissons will double over the next 20 years.......
They have point there..... and the bad news is the EU will tax the bollocks off flyers .....the new UK air tax has already been added to my next flight...

The ecos claim that fuel efficiency can only be improved by 2% per year.....a drop in the ocean they say..

Aircraft emissons is a minus contripution to polution problem.they have to look elsewere to find the reasons.newclear test.heavy industrys, wars and so on

I am getting really fed up with the eco warrior/ global warming/ air travel debate.

In the 70's they were telling us a new Ice Age was on the way.

In the 80's we were all going to die from Aids and Tropical diseases.

Now its climate and severe weather patterns.

When this doesn't pan out again, whats next?

The only safe projection about the Europe of 20 years from now is that many European cities will be majority Muslim.

The changing climate is not nearly as important as changing demographics.

Muslimes don't share the values of post-Christian Europe, and it is difficult to say how this will influence tax policy or the conservation of resources.

read some proper books on the enviroment and look between the lines. global warming and most of the other enviromental issuses are big money makers for the people who started them. its the new religious cult but on a large global scale.
