I've spent the better part of the last 3 days, almost 12 hours per day playing with Lightroom, Adobe's new photo management and quick fix s/w.

It's pretty much the best s/w product I've used in my life.

Every time I thought there was a missing feature, I'd explore a bit more and find there 10 new ones I could use that replaced my old s/w (Photoshop Album).

It's rare to find a great product, but this one truly is fantastic.

As with all Adobe products, it takes quite a bit of tinkering to get used to it, but it is well worth the time as you will save unbelievable time in the long-term.

For me deleted post on Nana pics, it also creates automated web-site galleries, in about 60 seconds worth of effort.

This is worth every penny it costs (or the 150 baht at Puntip Plaza!).

Yep... I tried this out a few weeks ago. (It's free if you download it from Torrentspy.com)

No doubt it's a good program with all the bells and whistles, but it's really aimed at the pro and I'll stick with my tried and trusted ACDSee for now...

Stogie, it's a bit annoying at first, but if you have to do photo selection for large amounts of photos, you can't beat it.

I too was not turned on to it, but now I've spent the time, there's no going back to ACDsee, Photoshop Album or Canon Zoombrowser.

But I do agree you do need to burst the midnight oil for a day or two to figure out how to use it for your one personal situation.

The rapid fix ability is also quite amazing. It basically integrates photo management with an editor (ie, they are one and the same, not 2 applications), which makes it fast.

Anyhow, it's only my 2 cents.

Agreed Lightroom is a wicked program, I thought it's predessor Rawshooter Premium was the business but this really up's the ante, only complaint it's a real system hog needs at least 1.5gb of memory

Right now I use Google Picassa, which is good for quick fixes. But is by no means a professional Application.

Which of them allow the best keyword management for pictures? Picasa, at least when I last used it a year or so ago, was pretty weak in that regard. It didn't seem to incorporate phrases, and there was no way to incorporate multiple selection criteria (e.g. keywords, "rating", etc).

I'd really like to use a good photo-organizer, but every time I looked around I decided they all sucked too much for me to invest the time in a partial solution - I'd rather sit down and code up something. I'd really like the flexibility of a database, not just a tiny subset.

Post-Op Lover - have a look at ACDSee Pro.

As for LightRoom - its a poor excuse for "Aperture" and a classic example of Apple innovation getting a market leader (Adobe) on the run and having to play catch-up for their lack of innovation and complacency due to market dominance with Photoshop for so long.
