    Remember D-Day

Greetings current and former paratroopers in ATS land -- I know there are a few out there.

Today is the anniversary of D-Day. Even though I'm ancient I was not around for D-Day. However, I was a paratrooper from 1977 - 1997 and this day is sacred to me -- I would much rather celebrate it than Christmas, the 4th of July, or any of the other "holidays" in the USA (well I would celebrate Robert E. Lee's birthday if it were a legal holiday).

Anyway, I just wanted to greet the other paras out there and wish you all the best.

We shouldn't support this war of US and English aggression on the peaceful, sovereign nations of Germany and Japan.

Quite right... Little lambs. What were we thinking!

Well - I was in the military for 5 years and had stints in an two seperate 'action' zones and I really came away after all these years thinking that as soldiers we play games of chess to massage the egos of polititions.

I'm no longer a patriot, I'm ashamed to say.

When I was at basic training we were herded into a hut early in the course and the chap at the front said "If you are not prepared to kill a man; stand up now and you can all fuck off home..."

I'll bet that at the time we all thought - 'I don't want to kill a man and hopefully it won't come to that, but I sure do need a salary!' But not one of us had the nerve to say "OK - this ain't for me... where's the bus!"

I'm rather ashamed of my country now. 100 years ago it was holding it's head up high as master of the world... Now it's just a sad little immigrant landfill.

in 2001 there were 1.6million muslims in the UK, and even with immigration at an all time high, i still cant believe that fact.

Statistics, statistics... you can make them read what you want.
The fact is this is the only Muslim name compared with hundreds of Christian names.

Yes they are growing, but still less than 5% of the population...

Oh please deep inside you are the biggest patriot and Tory of all. If you hadn't lusted for America at one point in your life, and instead stayed in Old Blighty, you might be carrying John Enoch Powell's mantle today.

England is STILL a great place to live. Period.

If not why do all the immigrants cross free countries in Europe to get here?
