Loyalty vs Integrity

Difficult choice that had me pondering but I went with integrity.

Dogs are loyal - I can respect integrity.

Why would you like a loyal person who doesn't have integrity, meaning you cannot believe them? They might be loyal one day and not the next (because they don't have integrity).

Seems like a simple answer.

Of couse if someone's not loyal to ME (let's say the Bush administration) then I'd go with integrity.

I can live with being 'ratted out' by someone who has integrity. I know that 'loyalty' doesn't always mean blind obedience but I can't help thinking of it in this way.

I'd rather be slapped in the face once than slapped on the back all the time.
