So I'm crossing Suk 3 to Suk 4 yesterday and nearly get run over by 3 motorbikes and 2 taxis...Nothing new...it happens dozens of times a day the minute you leave your hotel lobby until you return...(I almost said room...but they have yet to allow motorbikes in the hallways).
I continued down Suk 4 on my way to my hotel...somewhere around the Dynasty a taxi roars by and unfortunately a pigeon flew too low at precisely the wrong moment...
The collision sent the bird flying in a much different direction than was intended...and the taxi screeched to a stop...
As I approached I watched the driver get out of the taxi and walk around to the poor dying bird as the traffic piled up behind him...I watched him gingerly and careingly pick the bird up and carry it to curbside...
I had passed by then and didn't bother to look back to see if the bird was put out of its misery or dropped into some street vendor's wok or pot...
But as I continued walking to my hotel...I wondered what he would have done if it was a farang he had hit...
But then it was a Thai pigeon...
