Family laws in U.S. vary a lot by states.

That being said, for California I would recommend you to get ahold of this book

    http://www.ceb.com/CEBSite....Page=1#

You should be able to find it at your local law library.(If in California)
    http://www.publiclawlibrary.org/find.html

For national, non-state specific title, I like this one:

Depends on where you are, you may have access to it.

Well, in that case, give those people a call if you are in that area, or have them direct you to your local one.

I know a handful of the people there personally, they're topnotch.

the way it was explained to me......a post nup is similar to a pre nup arrangement except that it is written and signed after the marraige has taken place. the rules vary for each state.

              (dummy_plug @ Jun. 27 2007,05:09) post-nup?
I think in legal circles it's called - justifiable homicide

actually things are going quite well.

my problem is there is soon to be a major change in my status (ie finishing residency and pay will increase to about 375K to 750K) and i am not keen on losing half my shit in the event (even if it is unlikely) of a divorce. now that i see the other side of the tunnel....i am wondering if i should have gotten a pre nup.
