  • Where Can I Finnd Cool Pics and Graphics?

I'm looking for an easy and free way to grab some pics and graphics for a MySpace page that I'm helping a friend with.

Not of ladyboys though. Country music themed or political candidates is what I'm looking for.

    Thnaks!

What I need to upload can't be someone else's copywrighted material.

Now if I grab something from Yahoo {edit in I meant Google Photos} Photos it belongs to the creator or photographer, right?

I would suggest a cheap stock photo site, like www.istockphoto.com

I have used it many times. Most web sized images are $1.00
You buy credits in groups of 10 or more, so for 10 bucks you can get ten images. If you do a lot of design or web work, it's worth it to buy a bunch of credits because they give you bonus free credits of you buy a larger package.

You are correct that any image you find belongs to the original photographer or a news service; someone owns that copyright.

        Thanks Grunyen!

So for only 10 bucks that means I could grab 10 pics/graphics and can use these pics and graphics and not run afoul of copywright issues?

iStockphoto® is the world's preeminent collection of member-generated royalty-free images, at the world's best prices. There are no subscription fees or extra costs. Just the best Stock Photography, Vector illustrations, and Flash files online, at prices for everyone.
Royalty free means I can use it on MySpace with no repurcussions?

            Correct.

There are some limitations to royalty free, but they are pretty nit-picky. Essentially, royalty free images are yours to use as you please. You couldn't use one specific image as the main logo or campaign core of your new product... that would require a more specific license.

But you could use it in a brochure, website, or whatever advertising your company or product or certainly on a webpage. You might not be able to find specific politicians, but you can probably find generic people posing in shots like politicians, behind a podium, stamping their fists. And you should be able to find plenty of images of country music, guitars, people playing guitars, people wearing cowboy hats etc.

The images still have copyright, but the $1.00 you are paying is to license you to use that image. Just like when you pay for software (someone still does that?) you are licensing to use something that remains copyrighted.

              OK sounds good Grunyen. Thanks.

You may not modify, publish, transmit, transfer or sell, reproduce, create derivative works from, distribute, perform, display, reverse engineer or in any way exploit any of the Content, in whole or in part, except as otherwise expressly permitted in this Membership Agreement and any other agreement entered into at the time such Content was downloaded (such as a Content License Agreement).
Was thinking display might prohibit me from uploading to MySpace. But if one couldn't use the pics why would anyone pay I suppose? Thaks again man!

A Goggle search could help you find high quality goggles through which you can view your images.
