He actually introduced the racist jokes to his act after the onset of PC in the early eighties , according to the guy who wrote his biography .....

Call me PC or whatever but I never found his "humour" funny , and in fact I found a lot of it offensive , and this is coming from a white working class British guy .

The reason he hasnt been on mainstream TV for 2 decades is not some secret politically correct liberal plot , Its simply the vast majority of people in the UK are embarrased by terms like ****** , coon , packie , jewboy etc ....


These terms were used in the 1970s when to be one of the above meant getting your head kicked in by the NF

Thank god we,ve moved on since then , sadly Bernards "humour" didnt

As a white southerner (born in Hampshire which is about as far as you can get) I saw Bernard at his club in Manchester a few years back and he was hilarious.

I attended a function a week ago where the arab guy who was in the first Mummy film (yes made a big impression I can't recall his name) did his stand up routine which is racist - assuming you think America is a nation, homophobic and mocking of a lot of things in British life. Obviously that's OK as Brits, Yanks etc are there to be mocked by the liberal luvvies.

Just ask our lovely mayor in London "Red" ken livingston who refused to confirm nominations to the governing body because the candidated where white. According to ken people should be nominated on the colour of their skin and not how good they are at their job so they can be more representative of their community. If that ain't racism then I give up.

This is the same Mayor who called George Bush the greatest terrorist on the planet and invited Muslin Scolars to London who praise suicide bombers and call for the destruction of Israel.

A few years ago we were back in Yokshire doing the family visit. BM was booked in at a local club.
There had been letters to the paper from people saying it would lower the tone of the town, bring shame on us etc.
Anyone who knows Keighley will know the tone was never very high
Anyway we passed the place and I asked our taxi driver (a young Pakistani with Yorkshire accent) what he thought of all the hoo haa.
"A load of bollocks, hes' a bloody funny guy, it's all just banter anyway" was the gist of his reply.
