Donnny, glad to hear you have your new Nikon in hand. Don't be too surprised it was not made in Japan - but if Nikon kept the quality control strict, the Thai made equipment will be fine.

Snick - Yes you are right. Tokina 19-35 mm works fine for me now. F-stop around 2 is good on the dim lightning and allways on inside. The D400 is for sale - I just keep the lenses and buy a new body next year when I need it.

My 40D is sold out in Hong Kong, have to wait another month before I get a chance to pick one up

Priced it in Bangkok, its 50% more then HK....and not available.

Actually I recommend the new Sony Cybershot DSC H8. I have the previous Version Sony Cypbershot DSC H5. A great Camera with a 3 zoll screen.

I finally got the Canon 40D, its been selling out quickly.
I've only used it for a day, but luckily that included the Guess Pool Party.
Early Impressions, I like it a lot. The quality of the pictures is great a noticeable improvement over the 10D, especially skin tones. The speed is also a huge improvement, I was shooting at 6 frames per second and not filling up the buffer.

The Autofocus is usually excellent, but not always, hopefully this will get better with practice
The Liveview is a nice feature, but no substitute for normal operations, specifically you cannot focus with liveview on. So you have to focus your shot, then turn on liveview, then move the camera around to frame your shot. Not something you would normally do, but at least you have an option for taking shots that would otherwise require blind aim.

I need to take more sample shots and test the low light capabilities. Most of the Guess shots were done using an external flash.

yes i think pictures taken in low light situations are the true test for a good camera...please post your photos in low light conditions...would love to see the marked difference with that of ultra compact camera photos IN low light settings....

this is a little off the topic , but who took that picture of you on the sofa? such a nice legs and curvy bottom, but were are your feet?

all that empty space in front of your face but the feet get cut- whats up with that?
