One more thing for everyone-- I know all the relevant transmission stats, how it is supposedly soooo unlikely to get HIV by certain means. But one thing to remember that these studies performed in the West have usually been on HIV subtype-B, but in Thailand (and Africa) subtype-E is vastly more prevalent. They are quite different, as E shows more affinity for Langherhan's sells (sp?) rather than lymphocytes. This partially explains the predominance of heterosexual transmission in SE Asia and Africa. Western work is only beginning on this subtype-- and who knows? maybe it is more likely to be transmitted orally.

Secondly, people say it is extremely unlikely to contract HIV for men through vaginal sex... but on the other hand a shitload of people have it!!! If you look at the stats, the chance is tiny for men to get HIV through vag sex, but nonetheless millions of Africans have it!!!

Obviously vaginal sex is not the issue on this board, but the point is that the stats aren't always reliable due to different sub-types and the sheer numbers of people who have it.

Well, I'll be quite honest here.

I am 100% aware (I think) of the dangers of unprotected sex. Despite this, I have made mistakes on a couple of occasions - usually when "the drink, the lbs and the holiday situation" got the better of my judgement. Bloody hated myself the next day, but it happened nevertheless.

I am sure there are more than a few BMs here who have done the same, one way or another. As for Gailge - if he had protected sex - and only unprotected oral sex (assuming he is 100% sure about that), then it certainly raised my concerns that he was extremely unlucky. I am also assuming he does not have mouth problems or is particularly suspectible to illness.

I, for one, would like to know who these 4 are. I don't know how this could be done - if found out, but then again ......................... maybe there are many (as one BM said) out there in a similar state.

Just what is the answer - I don't know - but I certainly admire all those who have never (ever) barebacked or done unprotected oral .................. because this takes an extremely strong personality and self-imposed discipline. Whereas I would like to be in that category ............. I cannot claim to be ................... and furthermore - I fear I will slip up from time to time in the future.

I guess many of us are in that category between - what we think and say ............. and what we actually do when we get out there - depserate for a good time after suffering back home, working in our respective countries for (often) many months.

As for Gailge - you also have my greatest sympathies - and even if it were not to be true, anyone that has gone through that ......................... whoever it is ................... deserves support.

Gailge - I feel your pain - I was diagnosed HIV+ in Jan - got it from a GG as she was the only one I ever had uncovered sex with ! Have been in Patts 3 times since and fucked a lot of GG's and 4 lb's - always covered - even for BJ's - I couldnt live with the thought of infecting someone else but I still have sexual needs and I will continue to go there as long as I can !

Life goes on - I felt in my heart I had it and for all the flamers out there I have been tested 3 times - have the best medical cover and am definately HIV+.

I cannot believe some of the comments Im seeing in here - do you think someone would honestly make up something like this in the words Gailge used??? Geez get a fucking life some people ! I feel it was a heartfelt plea for support and understanding - the worst thing about this virus is its loneliness - I havent told anyone except my best mate - Im not married and have no kids
so its only me that has to be strong and Im dealing with that with no problems and guess what - Im not on medication !!! All the money in the world wont cure this thing but medication is only required when viral loads increase and Blood count weakens - My doc hopes 5 to 10 years before I start - Gailge look at some of the wonderful supportive posts in this thread (I have) and I hope you dont feel alone !

By the way - I've been on this board for 18 months (under a different handle) - never met any of you guys and have no intention of judging people (like so many people in here do). We are all adults and have to suffer the consequences of our actions - its your choice whether you use a condom or not - I always did except one time with a GG (and no im not going to name her). I get angry sometimes at becoming infected when the chances were so low but hey it happened and its up to me to work it through.

Gailge - you are a brave and honourable man to be so honest - I didnt have the guts to do it but you have given me strength - thankyou !

Thats info from their union rep ( can you believe hookers in Amsterdam are all members of a trade union and they all pay income tax).Hence the comp hiv test once monthly. I was pissed off with some of the comments made after i had posted my piece but hey what the hell everybody thinks in a different way and have their opinions and if they dont feel my story is genuine i dont really care as im happy that i at least tried to open some eyes,and i think i did if some of the pms i recieved are anything to judge by.

I'd bet more on this board are HIV+ than we know.

It's a numbers game and if you are fucking or getting fucked bareback by GG or LB PROSTITUTES in third world countries that are known for having a high HIV rate, you are at a VERY high risk of having it.

Seems that 25 to 30% of members in here dont know their status or have never been tested - bit ironic for a LB site where the risk is even greater ! Will be interesting to see the final results if more participate and tell the truth !

Kemp - fair question - I havent told my dates at home that Im HIV+ but I havent slept with any of them either and would indeed tell them if I got to a physical relationship - Honestly thats not on my agenda or a priority for me at the moment - lots of other shit to deal with. I think also if you read my post there was no request for any sympathy whatsoever from anyone in here - believe me I neither crave it or need it - this episode has made me stronger - thats why I dont tell people as I want to live as normal a life as possible without people looking at me differently.

Rick/Kemp - I dont tell LBs or GG's either - doubt if they'd tell me. My virus levels are virtually undetectable and I practice covered sex for everything while sober so there are no mistakes - I am not into revenge - I live with my mistakes every day and I have no intention of infecting anyone else.

I'm not preaching here - take from my story what u want - just take care of yourselves !
