HIV sufferer jailed for unprotected sex

ADELAIDE An HIV-positive man who insisted that there was no clear evidence that the virus caused Aids was sentenced to nine years in prison for having unprotected sex with three women.

A South Australia state supreme court jury convicted Andre Chad Parenzee, 36, in January on three counts of endangering life by having unprotected sex with the women, whose names have been suppressed by a court order.

He appealed against the conviction on the ground that there was no conclusive evidence linking HIV to Aids.

Parenzee, who has been held in custody since his conviction, was sentenced after two courts rejected his appeal.

In his sentencing, Justice John Sulan said that Parenzee had not come to terms fully with the fact that he had contracted HIV eight years ago, or the damage that he caused. One of his victims, a mother of two, later tested positive for HIV.

Parenzee will not be eligible for parole for five years.

It is the latest in a series of cases in which people with HIV have been jailed for knowingly passing on the virus.

In April this year, a Scottish judge sentenced to nine years an Italian chef who handed his lover a €œdeath sentence€ when he recklessly infected her with HIV and hepatitis C.

And last year, London receptionist Sarah Porter became the first publicly identified woman to be convicted of causing grievous bodily harm by having unprotected sex after she infected her boyfriend with HIV.

In answer to the above - no, I definitely do not try to have unprotected sex. My comment was merely an observation (in my maybe "limited" experience) that the girls in Singapore seemed to expect a condom to be used. I was invariably asked - even before we got to the room - if I had a condom. Perhaps it was the particular girls in question, as I could say they were well educated - at least to talk to and be with. Of course, its just my impression.

Yes - I do wrap up (not again!) as a matter of course. I could put it another way - I was asked on more than several occassions why I wanted to wear a condom - both in LOS and Philippines. Maybe that makes it a bit clearer?

And for sure - Lisa Winky used such protection, as I was definitely not one of those "super hot dudes", or however she termed it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To follow on from Video850's post above.

Thailand was running a advert campaign in the cinema's a few years ago  -  the target audience being the younger generation who make up most of the cinema goers.
They were quite good  -  they got my attention and I can happily switch the brain off when the adverts come on       I guess it's probably time they re-ran them.
The sex education in schools can best be described as variable  -  mostly lacking.
I think part of the problem is the Thai's Victorian attitude to sex  -  everyone does it but you don't talk about it  

At least the hospitals and some charity organisations spread the word about condoms  -  hence Snick's avatar  


In Singapore they regularly feature adverts about wearing condoms in the cinemas and I have in the past seen the odd one on the TV.
I also know that some years ago the then government started sex education lessons in the schools.


I can't comment on PI as it's so long since I have been there.


In the UK when AIDS was first 'discovered' the government ran a series of adverts in the cinemas and on TV.   Sales of condoms quadrupled overnight!
There has been nothing of that nature for ages and the incidence of STD's of all forms is presently rising dramatically.

Since you like the CDC, you should read this:
