Hi, I am after a nice compact video camera and a digital camera . I am looking at the Canon Nexus latest but not sure about the video. Any ideas ,suggestion by Sunday please as I fly then.
Be sure you know the UK prices of the cameras you are interested in. Not all electronic/photographic equipment in Thailand costs less. Also be sure of the warranty if you purchase in Thailand. Not all companies offer international warranty.
If you purchase in Thailand from a shop that charges VAT (value added tax), you may be able to get a refund at the airport when you leave if certain conditions are fulfilled. Look for details at the shops that offer forms for VAT refund.
I can't speak for the UK, but cameras as well as all electronics in Thailand cost way more than they do in the US. I bought an ultra compact Canon in the US this year and saved 10,000 baht by doing so. Memory cards are cheaper in the US too and there are better ones to choose from. Why settle for a dog slow 50X SD card in Thailand when you can get a blazing fast 150X SD or even SDHC cards with far greater capacities? And oh, save money at the same time.
Just check some Thai web sites like tohome.com to see what the stealers (oh, I mean dealers) are charging in Thailand for stuff, it's insane compared to where I come from and the selection is somewhat lacking as it seems to take a long time for new models to become available.
