Scotland were very very unlucky and hats off to them for their effort , they had even me jumping out of my seat willing them on with some of chances they had.

I can remember a few years ago a couple of american footballers came to the uk to play rugby.... They couldn't believe we didn't wear pads and helmets and the same players played for 80 mins non stop.
as for the sweaty socks.... fucking delighted they are out which is how they would feel if we got knocked out! If England were playing italy they would of been all sitting in the the pubs in italian shirts and the local shops would have special offers on itailan wine and pizza but we are expected to say ohhh poor scotland we were so hoping they would quality! Currently they pick teams out of a hat and they go into groups which form a league system and as in a league system how many games you win,draw,lose and your goal difference determines your positon in the table and whether you qualify or not!Scotland didn't finish high enough in there group so didn't qualify! They deserved fuck all......
Obviously your not a football fan and feel the need to air your views about it on the forum. Well hands up who hates american football

Well - that's easy...

First... get rid of the teams that aren't actually in Europe! That might help!

Next - exclude countries with less than 5 million people.

Put ALL the teams in ONE division. They all play each other home and away and the top 16 teams qualify.

The points system should be as follows.

No points for a loss.
No points for a no-score draw.
1 point for a score draw.
3 points for a win.

It's simple and fair. It's also a lot more football, so they can get rid of a few of those stupid competitions that were invented to sponsor beer.

But it'll never happen because it makes too much sense and that's one thing that this hobby doesn't want anything to do with.

So, you want a competition that is just for the biggest countries, not the best? In rugby context, I think New Zealand has a population of about 4m, so the best ranked team would not be not allowed in?

Apart from your 2nd one, that is what the points system is.

Seems to me a pretty reasonable structure now. Scotland had 12 games to get more points that the others. They did not. They are out. Seems fair to me.

The problem of the Scottish team was that the game against Italy had started 2 minutes to early and had stopped one minute to late.  
The other 87 minutes was a successful time for Scotland.
