    Then go with James Bond...

This computer will run Vista just fine, but it would help if you doubled your ram to 2 gigs.

Of course if you are just doing emails and writing your life story on Word then the 1 Gig will be just fine.

If you are watching videos for days on end and doing other things at the same time then consider an upgrade.

If you are buying this model and intend to keep this computer for more than two years then get Vista now. If you are going to replace this unit before two years then get XP and save Vista for your next purchase when the OS will be more stable and the computers will be better able to run it!

have XP, Vista and Linux all on the go (never bothered with MAC as I can't get used to not having a right mouse button)

to be honest, i only got Vista because I bought some new machines recently but it's behaved very well for me and have had no conflicts with drivers etc so far

many places only offer Vista with new machines although some offer XP as alternative. Also, Vista Business comes with XP "downgrade" licence

I will reiterate Stogie's comment about RAM though - go with 2GB if running Vista and want to do more than word processing and web browsing.

Basically, if you get a new machine with decent specs (specs are getting better and prices dropping all the time) I wouldn't worry about Vista - however, conversely, if you're already running XP I don't see a strong motivation to upgrade.

One nice thing about Vista Home Premium is that Media center comes built in. I have my vista media Center hooked up to my 40" LCD with home theatre 7.1 speakers and all my musiC, videos, DVDs and digital cable TV are accessible from the same place. Absolutely awesome - especially for browsing ATS Videos and pics

I just sprawl back on my couch and control it all with my Media Center remote and wireless keyboard with trackball
      No honey, no money!!

Mac works fine with the mouse with 2-? buttons. I have not used one buttoned mouse since 2001 because it really is not practical.

I didn't know that... Yep - I'm afraid that I would have to learn how to use a computer all over again!Life's too short.

I have yet to have any problems with Vista. I had no choice as I went with a new machine back in June, and thats what came on it, Vista Premium edition. It did force me to get newer versions of sopme software but most all still runs perfectly fine even thjough they say its not been tested on Vista.Only program I had to buy new was Forte Agent'

Its not hard at all to find bootleg or warez copies of just about any software, or serial numbers or serial number generators etc to work with legit downloads of programs. That is if thats your style.....but to most $900 or even $200 is a lot of $$$ to cough up......expecially if its only occasional use and not used to make a living out of.

have used vista for the last week and i hate it.
stupid gimmicks like fade-in windows become really annoying. Closing windows is also a head wreak- you have to wait for the x to be highlighted before you can close it.

it seems Microsoft have tried to go for mac os look and feel which in my opinion is backwards for windows users.

don't upgrade from xp- vista is a bag o shite
