When your computer embarrasses you

Years ago if you were fooling around on your computer, many games had a "Boss key" that you could press and make it look like you're reviewing a spreadsheet.

Now computer software isn't on our side. Someone may be giving a presentation and up pops an IM from a friend saying "Hey POL, here are nude pics for you!" or you are downloading a program and up pops a message saying "Download of Lesbian Love Fest 13 is now complete!" or simply another friend sending an IM saying "Your probation officer called and you're not allowed to drive anymore". Or you want to show someone a book, and the URL bar autocompletes to "www.amazons-lonely-tonight.com/SexyNongPoy" instead of "www.amazon.com/BibleStudyGroup" like you intended.

What do you do to prevent these things? I guess the best thing is don't leave your computer on the internet when someone else is around.

What would Bam do? What would Jesus do? What would Mirimark do? No, scratch that, I'm afraid of what Mirimark would do.

This happened when I was in graduate school. I sent to a friend an instant message: "What does Hillary Clinton do after she shaves her pussy in the morning?"

Unfortunately, he about 10 other people were working on a project and everyone had gathered around his computer.

Then, still embarrassed, he received the instant message answer to the joke: "Sends him off to work!"

Their roles are going to switch after the next election though!...

Just use different profiles and users on your computer I have one for work and one for play. I never log into msn etc from work account. Don't use auto completion and encrypt and shared folders or don't share them across users at all.

The different profiles idea is fucking brilliant.

I think that would solve everything.

I don't understand the "don't use autocomplete" comment. With different profiles, would autocomplete even be a concern? My guess is that autocomplete would keep different info for different users.
