Sorry mate have to vehemently disagree about this notion that people who might pay more drive the prices up for everyone else.

The Japanese have been overpaying in BKK for as long as I can remember up to 5000 short time and this has not effected my price one iota.

I could not personally bring myself to give someone only 500 THB ($17 AUD) for a short time. While I certainly understand the differences in cost of living between Thailand and the west and also say between Pattaya and BKK this still does not seem like enough.

I am not saying you guys who pay those prices are cheap charlies as if the girl was not willing to accept it she would not have so she must have been happy with it, but rather I am not comfortable with it myself.

I gotta agree with Ozzie on this. I am no cheap charlie nor a Rockafella. I pay what I feel there worth and more importantly what I am comfortable with. Its called capitalisim and free market economics. I've paid 500baht ST but after I also bought them a meal and a drink away from the bar. I'M eating for myself and a few more baht ain't gonna upset the apple cart.
The market sorts it self out and hey they gotta eat . Be happy

I'm no cheap charlie and tip very well, but overpaying because it bothers your conscience is just the kind of nonsense that drives up the prices. These girls live on their economy not yours or mine and some of them live quite well.
If you go into a store in Pattaya and buy a pair of shoes and the price is less than what you would pay for the same pair of shoes at home, do you insist on overpaying because it is such a "bargain"? No, you would not. The store clerk would think you a fool and the bar girl is no different.
You, in all your largesse, are doing nothing more than making a fool out of yourself and ruining it for everyone else.

What is the relevance of your example. One has a fixed price attached and the other is open to negotiation.

I would love to see your evidence as to how people paying a little more have driven up the prices?

How do you explain about the Japanese and how they have been overpaying for years and have not changed the price for me one or anyone else I know one bit.

The Japs do pay a lot more and thats why they are mobbed in force the moment they show up in the bars. However the girls know how much we will pay and leave it at that.

While the price we farang pay might not rise due to khon nippon, the willingness of girls to actually go with us at that price probably goes down, if there's a chance of a higher score with Japanese guys. Try Rainbow 4, f'rinstance. 1500 baht ST? Good ruck.
