pacman, thanks for sharing! Great to see some photos of old Bugis street. Not many of those pics around!
The new Bugis street apparently cannot hold a candle to the old one - and none of the ladies have returned. I guess the gov't didn't want to bring everything back!
Keep it up if you have more of the old days in pics..... they're priceless! Especially love the shots of Bugis St. I remember reading an article about it in the 70's & the photos of the beautiful girls stunned me & started me down this road. Pity I never got to Asia for another 20 years.
(Master Bator @ Aug. 23 2009,01:33) Excellent! My feeble attempt to create a thread like this is completely overshadowed by this Master piece.
Thanks MB but it is no Masterpiece I fear.
It was your thread that motivated me to get the boxes of pictures out & post some. Hours going through them turned up precious few worthy of the forum.
I carried my camera everywhere during the day, at night I had other pursuits to follow & I am sad I have no record of so many great girls & places.
I know I walked around Patpong one afternoon taking pictures of the bars & as soon as I find those pics, I will add them.
I hope others are prompted to dig out their own memories & add them to this thread. Between all of us, there must be enough pictures from the old days to create a real Masterpiece.
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.
Still I feel that this is a much better thread with a superior title which is far more inviting for others to post on. I will discontinue the MB milestones and only post worthwile and relevant pictures on this one, hoping that others follow and we indeed jointly create that Masterpiece.
Pattaya had very little infrastructure in the 70's & the town had few roads compared to today. It was much as you say, a few bars here & there, mainly open air beer bars, a few clubs but the centre of all the action, the numero uno place to be was the Marine Bar, still going today.
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.
To all those who acknowledged this thread, thank you...
If everyone could contribute just one picture, then this thread would really be something. There must be a few pics lying around from the old days...
