Took my ex gf to Loas over a year ago. We flew to Udon thani, spent the night then took a bus to the border crossing the friendship bridge. I believe the cost was 20 USD, and as I recall thais for free under a border agreement. The capitol of Vientiene is just a short 200 baht Taxi drive from the border.

Spent about 4 days all near the Mekong in Vientiene. I was crook and afraid to venture to far away from Thailand and didn't come good until i got back to LOS

Always made a point to walk down to the resteruants down by the river near sunset. They were wooden shacks, but featured nice views although the dry season dried up the most of the river. when it was light you could see kids playing football on the flat river bed.

The food was good and cheap too.

Having a ladyboy with you comes in quite handy in Loas. guesthouses and hotels don't allow you to bring home prostitutes. They can also communicate to Loa much easier than they think. It really surprised my ex how easy it was to understand them. basically Issan. Beware Tuk tuk drivers same same also, will take any opp to fuck ya out of some cash.

Make sure you stop at the duty free shops before going back over the border. Very cheap goods. Save a lot on bottles and smokes. Didn't see anyone checking so quite easy to bring an extra bottle if ya wanted.

I'm not sure on that one Stevie, however saw plenty of cars crossing the friendship bridge and there wasn't a big log jam at the crossing. Would guess most of them were regulars with some kind of border passes.

Surely some one here has done this, but maybe only with a rental. You should be able to google some info or even talk to a travel agent in LOS telling them your looking for accomadation but wanting to drive a private vehicle. They can tell ya what you need to do so they can sell you some accomadation deal. They will also try to sell you visa. Remember coming back into Thailand by ground now you only get 15 day visa from what I understand.

So if your going to clear your visa after 30 days and you want to stay longer than 15 days in LOS when you come back your better getting a rentry tourist visa.

Quite a rap sheet formed on Nina aka Nam. Some interesting tidbits there Socrates. Didn't realise the great Kuhuna and her were such an item. Maybe she inspired that memorable quote from Kahuna "A woman can fake an orgasm, but a ladyboy can fake a whole relationship"

About that thing on her ass you refer to, I wasn't going to point this out but since you have with that keen eye of yours. I always perform with the lights on for these type of things and photographic reason. When I went for booty shots or to rim that thing I had to balk. I asked her later and got a funny answer, something like it used to be in my ass now its out?. Its kind of a fleshy cist shaped like a blister. May be too much info but you asked.

Don't think its an STD of any sort, but more from getting her ass tagged a lot perhaps. She did make a point to cover it in this 1st photo. Here is a better photo with close up.

No worries, wish I had more on Loas, but as i said I was crook so the 5 days just over the border served more as a visa run than anything. someday hope to delve more into Loas. Ernesto has some good trip reports on Loas and Cambodia you can find in his forum. He even seeked out LB's there whereas I brought my own.
