After a nice 3 or 4 days in Samet, I hired a taxi for around 800 baht that took us from there to Thai/Cambodia border.  They all try to take you to a travel agent, so they can get a cut, but if you have U.S. Dollar, a passport photo you manage yourself for less. Thai baht is excepted as well but cost a 1000 baht when its only $20 USD.  They try to sell you an express visa to, but a 100 metre walk to place next to the casino and your done.  

After crossing, hired another taxi once I crossed that took me and my lb to Siem Reap. This was an uncomfortable ride through Cambodian countryside on a pot holed dirt road, in a beat up Toyota.

That taxi took us to a hotel hoping to get his cut, but priced it out around $20 USD, then had him take me to 3 other places until settling on one for $12, hot water was $1 extra? One of the places we stopped at erlier had a young Cambodian boy running the place, quite funny, the little lad was telling the mom what to do when he took us up to look at the room.

Its a massive complex of ruins. Free for Cambodians to visit, but $20 for everyone else. Couldn't pass off my lb as one either. Seems like such a high price, when everything else is so cheap.

Its now known that this was the biggest city on the planet in its day. they suggest that over irrigation and farming drained the region of its resources so it was basically abndoned.

Was amazed how trees grew over and top of the stone.

The massive trees saved us from the blazing summer sun. Was quite a workout trekking through the different sites. Hired a Tuk tuk driver for $10 for the entire day. he would wait for us while we climbed through massive temples and sites, taking short naps. He wasn't going anywhere, as we didn't pay him until the end of the day.
