Very good point about buyer beware re that ages in Sundance or 90% of Sunee for that matter.
Some of the confusion could be that when they are born Thais consider themselves to be 1 yr old. (The Thai authorities do not however when they look at the DOB of anyone we punters may want to fulfill our carnal desires with). Some of the ones in Sundance, for example, may say they are 18 because they are coming 18, past birthday 17 but not quite legally speaking to birthday 18. When a bar like Kaos (Villa Rouge now) is said to be closed for employing what is said to be 17 yrs olds, they are by our definition really 16. I have talked quite a bit to expats who have lived there for many years and have been told this by some guys who keep dialed in to what is going on around Sunee. I have had the mamasan show me the ID cards of some of the boys/fem boys at Sundance and there are several born in 2533. She freely admitted to me that based on DOB some are still actually 17. I cannot read the months in Thai script so will just have to take her word for the month. Having said that, some of the expats there who's insite I respect have told me that they have never known of anyone getting into trouble about age for barfining one of the coming 18 (in reality 17) year olds from a bar; or really for bar fining anyone for that matter. The authorities are after more the men who try to pick up true prepubescent children off the streets. Still we are told, rightly so, that if we have sex with someone who has not yet reached birthday 18, the risk is with us and no one else.
Considering the ages now of some of the Hi Boss lbs who have been there for 5 or so years, (The well known S being now 20 for example), this phenomenon regarding ages is not limited to Sunee or any one bar.
Still, it is up to each of us to decide if we want to take the risk and speaking for myself, if I see an ID that tells me not actually 18, I would not bar fine them.
