I visited Thailand many times in the past 10 years and have made very good friends. One of my friends I often go out with had a big birthday lately (she is a layboy, no romance involved at all, we are good friends). I have no Idea what I could gift her that has a meaning... A nice bag? Clothes? I don't really want to just gift her money, which seems very stupid to me but other thai friends said that would be best... Any Ideas?

Thai ladyboys would actually like Gold better than money. So your best bet is to buy her some nice gold jewelery. Gold is something they try to hang on to so some unique jewelry would probably be a good reminder of you.

Next to gold I would say a real designer bag or some real designer perfume.
A gift certificate for her favorite salon or for some plastic surgery could also be good options.
Last I would suggest a new iPhone.
