I've never seen it but guys get beaten by ladyboys quite often. Many have short tempers. They love smacking people in the head with their high heels. They probably could easily kill someone if they hit them just right.

Ladyboys won't usually attack unless provoked - so that means not paying them or short changing them, insulting them, etc. There are some who are indeed short tempered, but if you use your head and avoid conflict, it's highly unlikely you would ever be attacked by an lb or a group of them.

I think there is some underlying resentment among some. Obviously sex workers are probably going to harbor some resentment towards bad farang customers. Other Thais probably don't deal with as much as the sex workers. In the tourist areas everyone has a big smile, but can't be sure what they are thinking.

My ex Cake took me to visit her sister who was living in some slum apartment in a really poor neighbourhood in Bangkok. She left home so she could live with her lesbian lover but they had no money. So they were living in the worst apartment I have ever seen.
We went down to the local food area to a restaurant that had the cheapest prices I've ever seen. At the end I gave the waitress a really good tip. Some guy at another table saw this and got up and started yelling at me about it in Thai. I thought their was going to be a fight. Cake said he was upset that I tipped and seemed upset I was showing them up or something. Apparently nobody ever tips there and I suspect no farangs ever go there normally.

In the end they are a very Nationalistic country and all are very like minded, so they all tend to band together against foreigners in certain situations.

That's interesting. I have been to the Philippines probably six or seven times but I have never had a bad experience. Of course I am always with my girlfriend so that changes things.

Also the Philippines gets so many fewer visitors than Thailand - maybe it makes them less resentful?

Like I say things seem different outside of touristy areas. When I spent time out in Buriram some people seemed like they weren't to impressed with foreigners. Some guy tried to fight me at a concert. He kept calling me US military.

There is no place more in the boonies than her hometown on the island of Catanduanes. Sometimes I walk around by myself but even with her, people will stare and want to shake my hand like I am the first foreigner they have ever seen.

Thailand has many different types of people where people from Philippines seem very much the same no matter where they come from. It also seems like there isn't as much disparity between classes like in Thailand. Philippines also has nothing like Bangkok. Bangkok is listed as 15,000,000 people but probably much more. Nobody actually knows how many people live there. Most of us foreigners only see a certain side of Bangkok. There is much resentment from some in the country towards those in the city and vice versa. Some light skinned Thais can tend to be racist against dark skinned Thais. City mouse and Country mouse don't tend to get along that well.

I think that is true. They do seem good natured as a whole and predisposed to be friendly. So many Filipinos spend time working abroad and the US controlled the country for so long, it's had its effects on the people.

The people in her hometown are poor to be sure but even her mother who lives in a grass hut in the jungle has electricity and a satellite dish that allows her to watch her telenovelas at night! You have to see it to believe it.

I guess using hormones makes them a lot more "high blood" and sensitive.
