  • Sex Workers News

Latest news in Canada is that one in three sex workers are afraid to contact the police due to their fear of them. So much for a 'superior' western country.

Nearly one-third of sex workers who are in danger won't call 911, because they're fearful of police, according to a new study from the Centre for Gender and Sexual Health Equity.

An interesting Wikipedia article on prostitution around the world.

      I like Canada.
Everyone can sell sex but no one is allowed to buy it.
      What a cop out.

At least Thailand makes it all illegal but looks the other way, which makes slightly more sense.

Yes, but according to the CTV article SPs can sell sex it is just illegal, and a CCC violation, to advertise the sale of sex. Yehaa.

But the law makes it like the escorts are in a glass display case and available for sale.
However no one is allowed to buy them.

It just makes the forbidden fruit that much more exciting.

It probably keeps the prices up too.

Not always. It depends a lot on supply and demand. I saw countries legalizing prostitution and prostitutes started increasing prices pretending they were professional. Either sex work is legal or not, prices may be high or low due other factors.

Which countries were these that legalized it?

I was reading in an article that Some [sex workers] became so paranoid about contracting the infection that they started to use disinfectant all over their bodies after having sex,” Cosum (who has requested that she be identified by first name only), president of the All India Network of Sex Workers (AINSW) says. Bathrooms, after clients leave, are a luxury because the water supply is erratic.

This is an outcome that has wider implications for police targeting black and indigenous communities with practices such as combing and stopping in the streets.

This UK article from 2017 is not really sex worker news though some sex workers have had SRS but I found it interesting that they are some MTF and FTM that are opting to do a gender reversal, that is, going back to their original gender.
