  • Chiangmai and hiv

As a p.s. to my last post, be careful out there! There are currently two ladyboys freelancing, that are HIV positive. One is an ex Pattaya ladyboy, (Jenny Star bar) and has come home to expire, and the other is a local ladyboy. It's common knowledge amongst all the other ladyboys, but never the less they are STILL out working!! One is fairly advanced, and you will pick her by the spots that cover her body.....Rather scary really. The other one just looks a little thin. Not fair to mention their names here, but if anyone is going there, and wants the information, they can mail me.
It seems to be seasonal unfortunately, with two other ladyboy deaths from HIV in the last few weeks. One being a popular ladyboy featured on several sites (not this one)
I would suggest buying shares in Durex if going to Chiangmai........

Yes it fucking is! Fuck 'fair!' If I was going there I think I'd like to have all the information available!

It would be more 'fair' (or 'fairer!') to pass on to us as much knowledge as you have, and if possible even on to the authorities to get these selfish murderers OFF THE STREETS!

Whose side are you on, mate?

hey stogie? Whats wrong? - No one dies because of HIV in Thailand. Thats all a lie and the statistics just faked to prevent you from having fun! I don´t know why you so pissed off!
WHO is lying, UN is lying and so is "The Cynic" - don´t worry!

        @the cynic
do you really believe there are just 2 infected girls workin there? There are 2 who lost their secret! Work keeps them alive, because the have the money to buy the drugs. If the first signs appear they loose the money and normaly they go back home to die.

It is everybodies MORAL duty to protect people from CERTAIN DEATH !!! I am infinately sorry for those 2 ladies who have been struck by this terrible unrelenting disease. However, we have a right to be protected. What possible sense is there in allowing more innocent folk to be possibly infected ? How can that ever be right. These girls need to be stopped unfortunately. I am with Stogie on this one. The fact that she is ex-pattaya is worrying enough as I have said before on numerous occasions that we as a relatively small group are probably sleeping around with the same people !!!! Jesus, who hasn't slept with our favourites here eg Chompoo, Anna, Jeje etc.... A huge risk factor for HIV infection is multiple partner promiscuity !!! Most if not all members coming to Thailand are "dipping" in the same pool people !!! And we have heard on numerous occasions of the idiots still riding bareback even during this pandemic !- Brains ? - I shit 'em ! A mosquito has more sense I'm sure and certainly a greater will to live and evolve !!!!!!

For Christ sakes and everybodys sake including your own ass if indeed you value it ( it seems not in some cases) please please be careful and practice SAFE SEX.

Life is short - death is forever.

I disputed the UNICEF statistics on AIDS in Thailand and was proved right. Their stats are flawed and on the other threads you can see quite simply why!

But I'll repeat the ridiculous UNICEF scam now, just for fun...

An adult in Thailand in the UNICEF poll for AIDS/HIV+ in Thailand is aged between 17 and 49. Which means all people who are 50 or older do not apply to the UNICEF criteria of adult in Thailand.

Why is this? Well... almost NO-ONE over 49 has AIDS or are HIV+ so it diminishes the value of their propaganda / statistics to include them!

I think that statistics are for dumb fucks who can't think for themselves. But that's just me. Now we have a poster who knows of two girls in Chiang Mai who have AIDS but won't tell us who they are because he thinks that 'saving face' is more important than saving lives!

Draw your own conclusions as to what I think of this!

Smart points. We should be aware that we are all dipping into the same pool...very Sub-Saharan if your ask me.

Condoms are not a panacea as they drop risk by only about 50%. the solution (short of abstinence) is to find a new pool.

More important, AIDS is difficult catch, and is only really contagious in the first few weeks after infection, or during full-blown AIDS (where it's probably going to show, and you won't have much energy for sex anyway).

The greatest risk comes (we now know through African epidemiological studies) from groups of simultaneous multiple partners. This is because there is about only a one week period were AIDS  is contagious  (right after acquisition) then viral levels drop to nil for years.  This is why Africa has 30%-40% infection rates rather than the 1% to 2% seen in Thailand and the PI.  Africa has lots of guys with a wife and 3 to 10 girlfriends and girls with as many boyfriends.  If one person in this extended cohort group is in the contagious phase, it gets passed around the whole group.

Condoms are important for preventing more contagious (but treatable) ailments.  In Thailand and the PI mainly gonorrhea and chlymidia which are increasingly antibiotic resistant around 10% of cases in PI and 5% in Thailand, but mayby 25% in Patayya are antibiotic resistant).  You can get rid of the antibiotic resistant strains, it just takes a lot more trouble and time.

OK You can all stop screaming Stogie, Bricktop etc. I will spell it out below.

These other posts are quite relevant, in case you missed them.

The fact of the matter is.......Nobody really knows what the exact figures are for HIV positive people of either sex in Thailand. All reports and statistics that one reads are conflicting. I can only speak personally for Chiangmai and Chiangrai which are reputed to be the AIDS capitols of Thailand. In Chiangrai the incidence HIV positive sex workers is extremely high, currently running around fifty percent, but bear in mind that the majority of these are Myanmar nationals working illegally in Thailand. These cases are limited to the local brothels, where young Burmese girls as young as fourteen are working. The gay scene in Mae Sai and Chaingrai is pretty well non existant, but there are ladyboys working in both cities.
Chiangmai is a different ball game, with a massive gay community from the four universities, Chaingmai, Phayap, Phayo, and Maejo. They are also home to thousands of ladyboys. The gay bar scene rivals that of Bangkok, and the ammount of gay clubs and saunas is incredible.
Most of the working ladyboys have a Thai boyfriend, although they will never admit it to you. "Bam" being a prime example. Her boy friend sleeps with both gays and ladies, and this is a continuing basis for ongoing arguements between them. She was sporting a bruise on the cheek last week as a result of a quick smack from the boyfriend. I asked her why she still stayed with him. "He good to me" was the reply.....I give up sometimes.
Most weeks I hear of a gay death from an HIV related complication, and quite a few I have known personally.
A good gauge is to visit the public HIV ward at the Suan Dork hospital, and do a head count. Absolutely frightening, or coversely visit the Vieng Ping orphanage at Mae Rim, which has a 35/40% HIV count.

Good post Cynic. Because STDs are only contagious when you get 'up close and personal' their transmission is very ideosyncratic, and highly clustered. And partners are, by default, duplicitous and misleading. Changmai people it appears involve themselves in the same high risk behavior as the high risk African communities: multiple simultaneous boyfriend-girlfriend networks with a lot of sneaking around and duplicity, with likelihood of exposure to blood through unprotected anal sex and through needles. All the ingredients for an epidemic (and I suspect all are necessary to truly fuel an AIDS epidemic).

                      ----------------------------------------------------------

Chiangmai, being Thailand's second largest city behind Bangkok with 2,650,000 inhabitants, provides a greater proportion of ladyboys to the general "working pool" of Bangkok, Phuket, and Pattaya. Just ask any of the ones you meet, and I guarantee a lot will say they come from Chiangmai. They all co-habit, and are extremely promiscuous. (see Hanbali's post) He's right on the button.

Here's a wake up call for Jon too......

"I will definately be careful when i go back.....and i rarely take freelancers there in any case. the only girls i have screwed there all work at the Simon and I was always careful"

Just about ALL the Simon ladyboys have Thai boyfriends (can't survive without them, financially) and freelance on the side. So when you say that you have only screwed Simon girls, you are in effect screwing freelancers!! As an aside, a good proportion of the better ones from Simon are now working in Kings III, and other bars in Bangkok! Now if that isn't serious working, I don't know what is. Check 'em out.....Yo, O, Note, Nut, Nuey, Bom and those are just the ones that spring to mind, there are others.
Ponlien said she was going to Bangkok, but was still in Chiangmai the other day.

The ones to steer well clear of in Chiangmai are mainly "Alex" who till three months ago was working in Jenny Star bar in Walking street Pattaya. She has full blown AIDS, and is still working. She came home to Chiangmai to be near her family. There are others that are HIV+ and these include "Mot" a local freelancing ladyboy. Several new freelancers out of a nightime that eminate from the gay area of the night bazaar. This is a very dangerous bar area that centers around the "Jackpot bar", and most of the "ladyboys" are gays in wigs, some being quite attractive, like "Ken" and "Day". Ken lives with a gay Thai, who mainly does his business with tourists, and Day lives with another freelancing ladyboy called Apple. Last one I can think of, is Nong, a new freelancer. She is very thin, but very attractive. She never freelanced before, but lost her job, and took to the street.

I can't be more explicit than that....The Cynic

                        Stogie:

I think it's better to understand the statistics than to dispute them.  HIV infection exhibits a high level of clustering, by demographics, location and activity profile.  It can only be passed by repeated contact with bodily fluids from an infected person.  Transmission follows social networks, specifically ones that allow exchange of blood.  Thus a 2% prevelance does not mean that 1 in 50 people you meet on the street is untouchable.  What you do want to do is avoid the clusters.  Draw your own judgments about how you do that.

The Cynic seems to have identified a particular 'cluster' to avoid.  This can't get much more specific.

By the way, thank you Cynic, for the heads-up.  It may not be universally appreciated, but reflects well on your eponymous forebears -- Diogenes carrying a lantern vainly searching by daylight for an honest man; i.e., exposing the falsehood of conventional thinking.  Keep up the tradition.
