It isn't just Pattaya being affected, it is world wide and many more businesses will be severely hurt by this situation.
Some guesstimates are that it could carry on over the summer. Hopefully it will be shorter than that.

Here, we are not allowed to go out of our homes. If we get caught by the police, we need to provide an evidence that we are going to work and cannot work from home. We may get out to purchase food and go to the pharmacy or the doctor, purchase tobacco (because it makes taxes come in) or practice sport individually. Before last week end, we were asked by the government to avoid socializing with other people to avoid transmitting the covid19. During the week end medical senior authorities and the Prime Minister complained that we kept on shaking hands or kiss each other. So the government decided that every "non-essential business" shall be closed.
Medical senior executives had noticed that the number of sick people doubled every 3 days. They calculated that hospitals would be saturated soon. Now, they accept only emergencies in the hospital. If someone's sick, he/she shall call his/her doctor to get instructions or a medication. They test only people who show all the symptoms of the Covid19. They found out the virus can be transmitted by people without symptoms of disease, particularly youngsters and children. The don't want to test people without enough symptoms (probably to slow down figures). Tonight we have almost 6,700 sick people and around 150 casualties.
The government organized a plan to stop taxing businesses that close or maintain a lower activity due to regulations and pay for joblessness pensions if they can't make their employees work.
They also asked the armed force to deploy field hospitals and transport sick people in the most affected region region. The atmosphere chaned completely since they announced on Saturday night closing bars and restaurants.
They didn't close the frontiers except the one with Great Britain since the Shengen space has been close (Shengen space is the "core" of the EU). Spain close their frontiers, so we needn't close ours, Italy close their frontiers, Switzerland declared the sate of emergency, Germany closed their frontier.
I had a chat with a Vietnamese ladyboy today. They have less than 66 sick people and no one died. They closed their frontier on March 9th. Last update says "Vietnam will not be issuing visas to any foreign nationals. Travelers from countries with visa exemptions will only be allowed to enter if they can show medical papers certifying they are free of the virus. All incoming travelers from the United States, European and ASEAN nations must undergo medical checks and 14-day quarantine upon arrival in Vietnam." Vietnamese people seem to develop some hate against China, probably propaganda. I noted that figures seemed low IMHO, she stopped chatting.
The most worrying is that governments are still denying the danger of this epidemy. In African countries, they are not able to detect the virus, so it's supposed not to be there. More serious seems to be the propaganda and competition effect between supposedly civilized states. Countries underestimating the threat only prolong the epidemic and will send it back to partner countries. It can last for more than a year.

Don't have to worry about anyone in Pattaya. Bars may be shutting down but the freelance scene has been growing anyway.
The ladies and ladyboys have nothing to worry about because none of them are from Pattaya.
Most of them come from the countryside and can just go home in times like this. They aren't making money but they don't need any back home.
Since they are usually sending money home they are very important there.
In fact i don't think i have ever met a ladyboy who said she was from Pattaya.....
I guess we need to take Flamingo Farmer on a visit to the country sometime.

The Saigon version of the dead buffalo.
Today, Linh posted in her timeline a photo showing someone's arm in an hospital bed and a comment saying "pain, so sad". I asked her if she was sick. She took time to answer "yes". Then I asked if this had something to do with Covid19. This evening, she answered yes then promptly asked me to send her some money to help. How come hospital doesn't take care of her ? " But I am in need of money to build a facility". Of course.
