BAD NEWS. The Bue Lizard Bar just closed up last night 11-30-19. Right on the start of the crowded 2-day Thanksgiving fireworks festivities. Kings Bar was aready closed when I arrived early this month November. Few kats now hanging out at the 711 store waiting for offers. Homeless. Blame the screwy Dollar-Baht manipulation now down 1:29. Imagine what that does to the expats just hanging on to their shoe strings. Can't return home because living costs r skyrocketing there, too. Just gotta keep walking around and keeping my eyes sharp for old and new friends. Bu now I can tell who's worth B1000 and B1500 or just forgeddaboudem. I would probably still come for Bumrungrad, shopping, traveling outside of pattaya and Bangkok. Chiangmai looks good. Maybe an investigative trip to Ko Samui for a week.

I've seen only 4 ladyboys now standing around the next door 711. Pretty soon they'll need to move into other girl and boy bars. Or just stand right outside of the Sunshine Hotel with 3 others who have always been there since 2012. Now wondering who's the next Kat Bar to close. Think I'll drop by Soi 6 next Monday after the fireworks crowd ends. Katoeys R Us is still in walking Steet and still wanting for customers.

George, do you mean the Blue Dragon on Soi 8? If so it's "death" has been a long dragged out affair. That said, I think it is very premature to think the "Katoey business" is on its way out. I was chatting with a buddy of mine the other day and he says Soi Buakhao (Fantasy Lounge and NidCha) have lots of ladies. Why not take a look and, since it's in the neighbourhood, take a nice leisurely stroll up Soi Pothole. I'm sure that would prove most “interesting.” Give it a go and report back...not that I'm putting you on the spot or anything 555. Cheers and enjoy your trip.

Blue Dragon wasn't open at all last November and King's Bar had fired most of the ladyboys and replace them with ladies.

Ahhhhhh. Will check it out. Maybe I should switch to the Areca Hotel. Seems there was a front facade fire yesterday at the Holiday Inn on Soi Bukhao yesterday. Everybody was let back into the hot shortly there after. Good to hear the action just moved to Soi Bukhao. Have passed Fantasy Lounge several times and there"s always a young Kat in a black leather outfit with a whip posing for passersby. Seems to be a new crop of Kats. Will check it out. Hope they will like photo shoots. Bukhao is so slow during the day but come 6 PM the street is rocking full of tourists, farangs, and expats. Yes. I'll check it out

The weather is getting pretty chilly and lots of people coming down with mild hacking coughs. Don,'t know if it's air pollution or the dust from the extensive drainage pipes up and down Beachwalk. HUGE black corrugated vinyl pipes 7 feet in diameter and maybe 6 car lengths long. Should watch 2 cranes lifting and swinging them under and through a horizontal pillar in the ground. Like threading a needle. Funny how some men have no shoes and work barefoot. Still the work progresses fast. Finish one section then pour concrete over the section and move to the next one north. Project is now between Soi 7 and 8. This is the 3rd time I'm coughing since I arrived November 12. I get sick every time I fly to BKK on 18-hour flights.

BTW online Agoda.com sez Areca Lodge is $58 a day holiday rate. Cheap. Maybe I should consider the cheap B200 short time rooms upstairs. But no showers.

Walked over to Bukhao soi two night's ago at 11 PM. walked past that Ladyboy bar azad t the street next door to Pattaya Night Market. Lots of Kats but they look awfully stuck up. Don't even look at you when I passed by. Fantasy Lounge and Natcha bars had about 6 kats each but act stupid when I asked about BF prices. The rest are sneerers. So why are they waving to everybody sexily for customers. Walked into the nearby bar compound and found lots of Christmas vacationers having wonderful times with the bar chalices. Some pretty and others to loss weight. Most of the tourists are here for the girls. All three bars had no customers at all. These ksts definitely need to learn politeness and stop acting like shitheads like the for.er Pook Bar. Walked up and down Soi Diana where the Areca Hotel is and found absolutely no kats. Just read an article that last year was bad for Pattaya hotels and this year is showing a 40% drop! Soi 6 still has lots of kats and girls but most of the drinkers are in the girlie bars. Very few in the Pook Bar and other ladyboy establishments. They are going to have to wise up and stop acting stuck up. They need us and not the other way around. I still think sois 7 and 8 are the best places to find nice kat hookers. Do be forewarned the crowds are thinner. The stronger Baht plus the novelty of ladyboys seems to waning. I still come here because I like the shopping, people watching on Beachwalk during the day and night hours. You can notice there's way more Indian tourists coming in. Very friendly guys and they seem to spend their night times at any of the 3 Honey's Massage Parlors where the most voluptuous girls are found under bright spotlights wearing lovely dresses and perfect makeup. This is the places to be if you want the best. B2000 for the gals with the red numbers and B2t00 for the blue badges. Think about it we spend B500 for the BF plus B1000 to B1500 for a short time. Only this place gives you a soapy massage and everything you desire. The Indians ha e this place wired. There is a new Honey's next to the big FMily Mart on Pattaya South Road. Exactly the same setup. The owner is investing big money building beautiful playboy mansions. If you haven't been there you should visit any of the three locations. Chao.

George, I don't mean this as criticism but instead of walking by all these bars, why not go in sit down and have a drink? Also, if I am reading you correctly, it seems you are set on Soi 7 and Soi 8. If so perhaps you might like "Gossip Girl" Bar on Soi 7...there were quite a few ladyboys there when I was last in town (granted that was Jan.-Feb.). If you head down from Second Rd. toward Beach Rd. it's on the left.

Short for Katoey(s). Ah yes, Gossip Girls always has a lot of pretty Kats there. But none will do photos. Shucks. Good bar. I also like Sam's Bar at the top of soi 8 where it T-bones second Pattaya Road. Got Ploy who is huge for a 5'6", a Laotian from Vientiane with 6" pole and loves to kiss and do any position she feels like. She doesn't ask for permission. Just goes for it. There's Linda who is very friendly and pretty but doesn't like photos. Just fucking. She is small and told me so. Truthful and you'll see why she is attractive inherently black miniskirt. BTW, Ameena who was the bar secretary in King's bar last year is there. Surprised she is so young at 22 with a tight body. There are more kats in that bar as it gets closer to midnight so check it out.

Even though the tourism news has been depressing I still see lots of tourists checking in and out of Sunshine Hotel this week. There's always plentiful numbers of drinkers in the beer gardens with smaller numbers in the girlie bars. Less so in the kat bars. I think the future is in bars that mix kats and girls together. Don't know if the customers will prefer that. The commentator Stickman Bangkok sez the dollar-Baht exchange rate has discouraged tourism, but I still see lots of tourists everywhere. Last year it was B35 to the dollar. Now only 29. So that means I get B6000 less per thousand dollar traveler's check. That hurts. But where else can you find the most beautiful and most fun-loving kats in entire world. One advantage with this decrease is less competition for dates and bargaining power for me. Do photos or no date. There are lots of kat bars with no customers, and I predict they will have to close like Kings Bar and Blue Lizard. Stickman Bangkok sez more punters are contacting dates through social media for dates. Drinks aand barfines are getting too expensive or so he sez. Will have to check out ShaSha the dark-skinned beauty as she tells me she's in DC-10. we had a mild fallout from a date 3 years ago but we're friends. She is a super nice ladyboy. BTW the air pollution in Pattaya is very unhealthy. Try Googling Pattaya Smog. It is UNHEALTHY and you can see the ugly whitish haze everywhere. I have been coughing for almost 2 months and been swallowing Stresil lozenges almost everyday. Everybody is coughing. Greenpeace is touting Bangkok as being dangerously toxic just like last December when I left. Might have to seriously consider other destinations like seam Reap, Vientiane, or ho chi mihn city from my Bangkok base.

I read somewhere that the bar business is going down in Pattaya. Farangs (British) who opened bars took bad habits regarding their customers. They probably created a core of clientele with their former monger friends but never went beyond this stage. Now, they gonna start counting mongers whom they told they weren't their buddies. They aren't their customers too.

I also read about a new habit is in fashion in Pattaya bars. A guy will enter a bar, pay a ladyboy a LD, then the ladyboy won't entertain the guy and go and talk to another customer who paid no LD. Another version of the same : a guy enters a bar, orders a drink for himself, then contact ladyboys who are busy customers in the premises on Line. A few British believe so much they are in a Brit colony that they don't respect any civilized rule including their own country fellows. I'm glad I haven't been there since I came back from Cambodia 3 years ago.

You hear about the odd bar owner getting shafted by unpaid bar tabs from ex-regulars but if thats putting them out of business they shouldn/t be in the business in the first place !!
Talked to many bar owners on this subject and if your bars on solid footing which means breaking even on low season months and bank your high season months to survive low season and live within your means you'll survive, true is it's simple there are less than half the tourist there was 10 yrs ago because of the strong baht it's actually hurting the restaurants and massage shops more.
It's your holidays or retirement go where you like there is plenty of options if someone asks me about Pattaya i say go you'll have a great time it is what you make it !! It's great reading about some out of the spotlight places where there is a different vibe and hope to travel there sometime, in the last 5 years i've been all over Thailand did things my way and always had a great time no sense in being cynical about this and that there is no bad news nothings ending if something isn't to your liking don't do it, just look on the bright side!

Korat seems to be a place to watch. The Chinese are building a high speed train there. Venture capitalists are keen to build a world class race track and other developments. More jobs and money. Interesting to watch.
