A couple of falang women were arrested by police in Patong after dancing topless while driving around in a Black SUV. The act was recorded on You Tube and the police tracked down the hardened criminals by their license plate. The ladies were taken to the Patong Police Station fined 500 baht and given a morality lecture. I wonder if they took pictures of their breasts as evidence?
Anyway you can do a lot of stuff in Thailand without fear of any problems. However new tourists can get the wrong impression from the many bars on Bangla road and other parts of Thailand where morality is not demonstrated. There is a big difference between what is acceptable in a red light area or bar and what is proper in daily life in Thailand.
Even on the beaches tourists somehow thing topless and nude bathing is fine because it is hedonistic tropical paradise. If you watch Thais they don't go topless at the beach and actually cover up quite a bit. Thai women generally don't were tiny string bikinis unless they are working in a bar, otherwise they will have the granny full length bathing suit with a skirt.
I found this article quite interesting as they had used a photo from Reuters that states:
"Thai women dance as they invite tourists to a night club at Patong beach"
In the picture they show Soi Crocodile and a bunch of ladyboys dancing on a stage.
Funny how out of touch they are using an old picture with ladyboys in it and using it to show the action in Patong.
Soi Crocodile and Tequila bar there have been gone for quite some time.
