The regulations are country wide, each district has to draw up their own entertainment zones. I know that pattaya has one I just don't know what it is yet ! Same with Phuket.
Chiang Mi hasn't drawn theres up yet.

Excuse my french. But this is Fucked. I thought of writing a nice long list as to my feelings. But im sorry, the best way to describe it is fucked....No more sitting in hot tuna on walking street drinking till 7-8am in the morning. No more raving till 3 in safari then sneaking underground. No more leaving my hotel just after 9pm to hit bangkoks streets....I guess ill have to do what i do when i go to Newcastle....

Its a joke...as someone said in an earlier post all this will do is force people to binge drink & binge shag. instead of a gradual evening ull have an intense few hours and a grueling session after 12am.

Was in Cascades and Obsessions and Casanova last couple of night.....can you believe that Stogie refused to come for a beer with me with the pathetic excuse of a valentine's dinner with Kui!! How can he possibly think I am less romantic than that???!!

Anyway, all the girls in the lb bars and gg bars are talking openly about this opening hours thing. Casa and the others expect to be open from 5pm, not 6pm currently, to make up for the loss at the end of the evening.

Will ask Big Dogs and Night and Day what their plans are for opening during the say when I go there tonight

This is an exerpt from this months "Asiabugle" e-zine, which asks that we (the men who love Thailand) do something to voice our objections to ruining our vacation by putting us on the streets at midnight with their anachronous, Victorian, view of their society.

'"I am not sure if there is anything that we farangs can do to pressure the government to change their minds. It is after all a Thai matter and a bunch of whinging farangs may even be counter productive. Matt (angelwitch) made the following suggestion in an email, €œYesterday (last week), The Nation pointed out in an ad... 'We want your opinion. Is early closing fair? Send your comments to [email protected]"
I think as many of us as possible should take 15 minutes and give them our opinion. I just did it in a not exactly short letter. We have to stand up for what we like and we need a forum where we can express our thoughts, comments, concerns and worries. Please be very polite and strict about it.€
So up to you. My feeling is that we need to encourage Thais to protest, beyond that we can not do much else!'"

Sharpen your pencils boys or start thinking about that day when we only sharpen them in Cambodia.

Hi Gazzio... I think people will be voting with their feet. Just in the last few days I have heard of many people changingor cancellingplans to come to Thailand. Not to mention the ones that live here are re-thinking their options.

I really don't care about bar hours. This just another straw in the camels back for me. The place is just getting annoying.

Over the last few weeks I have been speaking to a lot of Thai nationals, and asking them exactly what they think of the present government. Did they vote for Toxin in the first place? Will they vote for him in the next election? The answers were overwhelming. The majority did vote for Toxin's party, and NO was the resounding response to would they vote for him again. These were not people connected with the entertainment industry, but hard working Thais. They are finding that they now cannot get the famous 30 baht hospital treatment, and a few other pre-election "goodies" that were promised. All in all they are not happy. However, remember the average Thai has a very short memory when it comes to things political. So when Toxin and his cronies start campaigning with a vengence, they are likely to be sold again.
On closing times for the realm, Thais will always find somewhere to party on, but for the tourist, it's going to be hard for the party animals. Like most others, when in party mode, I like to carry on till the early hours, and decide when I want to go home, rather that someone saying "Time to close"
At present, most bars that I visit, close their doors at two, and carry on behind the shutters, whether that practice will continue remains to be seen.

Thaksin is the richest man in Thailand and we all know that MONEY TALKS in Thailand. He will sell the majority again with the backing of his Thai Police buddies - make no mistake. As Bob Dillon sang,

Here's my two Baht on the subject:

These new regulations are designed to rid Thailand of Farang-owned businesses. What many may not realize is that these new regulations will not be imposed on Thai-owned bars. With regards to prostitution - Thais are the biggest consumers of thier own products so the local cops and politicians will still get their cut of the action.

Some people have mentioned that tourism will take a beating if the adult entertainment venues disappear. I don't agree because the nightlife industry only accounts for a small portion of Thai tourist revenues.

Others have speculated that TIT (this is Thailand) and we will eventually see all this bullshit reversed. I may be a pessimist but I don't see things changing anytime in the next ten years. The Thai government is immersed with conservative politicians at the moment and there has been a surge of Thai nationalistic views brewing for well over 5 years now. The Thai people don't give a shit so the government is going to do what it can to rid itself of its bad image (with regards to whores and nightlife).

It's time to find another venue€¦ Bangkok will be the first to fall but I feel Pattaya and Phuket will soon follow.
