Government agencies and entertainment venues asked to suspend activities for 15 days
The Cabinet has requested cooperation of government agencies and entertainment venues to suspend merry making activities for 15 days to mourn for HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana.


PM's Office Minister Khunying Dhipavadee Meksawan instructed state-run television stations; Channel 11 and TITV, to air programmes in honour of the princess.

The government has formed a national committee in charge of the funeral arrangements, led by the prime minister.

Cabinet members will observe the black dress code for 100 days, she said, adding the Cabinet also sought cooperation from the public to wear black dress for 15 days.

I just saw this, and have no idea what it means in practice.
Does the government seriously want all entertainment venues to close for 2 weeks ?
Or is it okay to stay open, as long as no one has a good time.

I've realized that there is no predicating what will happen, its all too random.

Every time I go to Thailand I just pray the King dosent die .

i am planning a visit to BKK later this month, makes you wonder why its so random with pubs closed for one reason or another, if they keep this up then surely tourism is going elsewhere

With my arrival this weekend, clearly I am more than a nid noy bit interested in the impending state of play    
A mate of mine who has a bar in Pattaya made enquiries with the police this evening and they advised him...no orders from provincial HQ so business as usual for now  
However, I have seen it reported on the Phuket forum that bars can remain open, although no dancing or loud music until the 17th January

the bars, clubs, entertainment venues of all types will not be closed. grumpy; can i write this in caps?
WILL NOT BE CLOSED. the pub owners have just been asked to keep things toned down a bit. which means if you go to obsessions you might actually be able to talk to a girl and not be deafened by the music.
