Hey peep's, don't have too much sympathy for that lil druggy. Crystal is more mentally addictive than physical. If a crystal user really wants to quit, its a matter of being tired of not having anything to show for his or her life.
Rock bottom self pitty. " Time to climb out of that hole. "

The physical withdraw will only last about 72hr's, maybe a little more.
The mental withdraw will last years and posssibly more years.

(mirimark @ Dec. 17 2007,07:23) The physical withdraw will only last about 72hr's, maybe a little more.
The mental withdraw will last years and posssibly more years.
That could describe an addiction to this site.
Retired the top 12.  Need a new dirty dozen.

Update: The new list is coming together: Nong Poy, Anita, Nok, Gif, Liisa Winkler, Kay, Nina Poon.  Is it possible to find 5 more?  Until then, GGs:  Jessica Alba, Yuko Ogura, Zhang Ziyi, Maggie Q, and Gong Li.

Me too am losing a battle to stop my Thai LB friend from going down the slippery path. In my youth I have tried most drugs and luckily not having a addictive nature (except for LB) i got out unscathed. However this new shit is so addictive. It is a shame to see my friend go downhill, now so skinny she is finding it harder and harder to compete with her work mates in getting punters and she is going to end up in a bad way. No way of helping i am afraid. Another mans heart? you may win her back, but against her new best friend "Ice" no way.

imho, the percentage of transsexual prostitutes who do yaba/meth/crystal/crank/ice -- be it in the LOS or the USA (the two countries from which i draw my own admittedly non-scientific, purely anecdotal evidence) -- is as high as the percentage of hippies who smoked pot in the 60's. some seem capable of utilizing it the way ballplayers utilize steroids while others use it the way junkies use smack. you can not always know if your girl of choice is a user. and if she is, there is nothing you can do about it anyway. in a world where face trumps truth and today is all that matters, if she does use, she would be unlikely to confess if she thought you disapproved and she would lack any tendency to worry over its long-term negative effect regardless of any evidence you might present.

In the states it's about how many people are on meth. it is epidemic in many communities. It has taken hold in many small towns in the midwest, cheap and they say one toot on the pipe and you are hooked.

Here in New Mexico they have busted people with mobile meth. labs set up in the back of a pickup truck.

Good luck to you and your girl friend.

Ice is horrible stuff, I tried it twice, once with a LB in Bangkok, and once in PI with two GGs.

For me it's a drug I don't "get" - you're just awake for far two long, and the comedown leaves you a paranoid gibbering wreck, the "up" is definitely not worth the "down"

But the sad truth is, its use is spreading like wildfire across SE Asia, and certainly here in LOS a high percentage of those in the P4P game are using on a daily basis.

Without having any hard evidence other than knowing most of the bar girls on the island I live on and my experiences with LBs in BKK, I would say it's there is a much greater chance of ending up with a meth head than not....

The thing that makes ice such a terrible drug, is it actually overloads and 'blows out' the brains pleasure receptors - which must feel awesome, I'm sure.  But then, after a little time, those parts of the brain don't work on their own anymore, so that if one tries to stop ice, the person is literally unable to experience the feeling of pleasure. Sometimes that damage is permanent...life long.

Can you imagine your brain unable to recognize pleasure? (Okay...jokes ahead).  Seriously tho, bad stuff on anyone.

One sure way to know of an lb/gg or whoever is on these amphetamine type drugs is to look at their jaw.Usually the jaw becomes numb and they will move it from side to side in a labored fashion grinding their teeth.

                            Drugs are bad, OK?
I'm just hazarding a guess here...

                              SOME drugs are bad.
                              others are good.
and some depend *entirely* on who takes them and where and when and why and how much and how often - and with whom.
and that last category would include
personally i find it *extremely* unlikely that yaba and ice will ever find their way out of the first category.

(LoveYouLongTime @ Dec. 15 2007,20:31) I just got off the phone with my old girlfriend and we were having a heart to heart conversation.  Talking about the past and where we went wrong and then out of nowhere she tells me she has been doing crystal!  She has been up for 4 days!!!  She tells me she and her ladyboy friends have been doing it for over a year!!!  She is ashamed and doesn't want to do it, but what can she do(Guilt trip on me...)  I am in the States and I just want to fly over there and shake her up and try to straighten her out.  She is only 21 years old... What can I do?  I have been on and off with her for 5 years.  We even went through the tsunami together on Phi Phi.  We have been through hard times and had many good (and fun) times together...what should I and what can I do???
I have no special comment about your situation, but I recently read a book called "Iced: crystal meth" by a Canadian author named Jerry Langton, and I think that it's a good read for anyone who'd like the skinny on that drug. He talks mostly about the North American situation.

I knew very little about the stuff, and it was an eye-opener for me. The author had been tempted, for the sake of knowing what he was writing about, to try meth at least once during his work. In the end he chose not to try because from what he knew after researching his book, he figured that there was a fair risk that he would get addicted to it after one try... He says that crack cocaine is nothing compared to meth in term of addiction. Scary..

Two other interesting bits: generally, regular users lose a lot of weight. There is no such thing as a fat or chubby meth user. They get skinny or even skeletic. Mostly via a combination of loss of appetite and overactivity. The other thing--surprising to me--is that the stuff is a very potent aphrodisiac to men and women alike. This explains partially why prostitutes may have an added interest in it. It helps on the job to put in plainly.

And many long-term users get permanent brain damage. There is a very detailed discussion of the mechanisms in the book. I didn't understand everything on that part, some of it was over my head.
