Before I went out tonight I shaved my nuts, changed my bedding and folded up a towel on the guest side of the bed with a set of brand new night clothes, a toothbrush and paste for one, and a new shower cap...
I came home alone...
I didn't intend to spend the night alone but by the time I had been to the second shitpit of the four shitpits that infest Nana Plaza I'd lost the urge to live let alone get laid!
Even so, I traipsed around to all of them, ever hopeful of seeing someone in one of them that would catch my eye - but I didn't.
If you are looking for pretty teenage ladyboys who want to give you good sex for good money then don't bother with Nana Plaza.
I won't bore you with how expensive the drinks are. You already know that. I won't sully this post with the reruns of how you get swamped at Casanovas - that's a given and it won't ever change! Obsessions won't ever invest in an A/C unit that works - we all know that!
I visit these bars about once a month or so and I can see the changes as they occur. And because I live here year round my standards are a lot higher than they would be if I was stuck in the UK/US/Oz waiting for my vacation time to roll around.
I'm also still on the lookout for the famous GFE (Girlfriend Experience) which is all but dead in Nana Plaza.
Oh, by the way - if you don't live here or you are an occasional visitor then your views probably won't be the same as mine. It's possible that I'm just jaded by the whole scene, but I dont think I am - I've always been this hard on the Bangkok scene in Nana Plaza and I've always been tough on "The Shitpits!"
So for what it's worth here is a brief review of the Nana Plaza ladyboy bars as of November/December 2007...
Cascades...
Cascades regains it's #1 slot which it lost to Obsessions a couple of years ago. recently and for the last year or so it's always been a coin flip as to which one is the best. But at this moment in time Cascades has a clear lead.
It's larger and more comfortable than all the other bars. At the moment the bar staff aren't begging for drinks. But the biggest improvement in Cascades is the "New Faces Factor."
Yup - all your old favourites are there, but there are also a regular turnover of girls who you probably have NOT seen before. And some of them are not too bad.
Obsessions
Obsessions still has the best ladyboys in Thailand... but unfortunately they are the exact same girls that were there a year ago and they just look older and more bored.
The dance floor is a crying shame as the girls just don't even bother anymore. But if you are Japanese then expect to be frogmarched to a seat that is decided for you and then literally mobbed by pouting desperate ladyboys who are on the lookout for an easy score.
Choose where you sit carefully - because this bar doesn't have a decent arircon system and unless you are drinking water smoothies then you'll quickly burn up!
Casanovas
Only one girl in here worth bar fining and that's Candy. And you'd better wait for TTChang to get sick because he's taken on barfining this beautiful creature as his mission in life!
But...
Yes - if you are on your own you WILL get swamped and yes - there are not a lot of good looking ladyboys here, but there are some. It's no longer the Amazonian corner of the world that it was in the past.
But the best thing is that it's cool inside, the music isn't loud and it's actually quite good too.
Temptations
Just a horrible experience. It's claustrophobic, pitch black and offends you with very very loud crap music. These are the girls who can't even get work as freelancers!!!
Save your baht and steer clear of this dump.
Summary
So there you have it... one assholes opinion of the Nana Plaza scene... Cascades leads the field and Obsessions is getting stale. Casanovas has a better atmosphere inside especially if you already know a few of the girls. Temptations is where you send your enemies.
Don't plan your vacation around this post because I'm just a jaundiced miserable cunt with no scope for seeing the upside of these places.
But I'll level with you - you'll have twice as much fun with better looking and friendlier ladyboys at half the cost if you go straight to Pattaya... and that's where I'm off to with the 4,000 baht I saved by coming home early tonight and sharing this bollocks with you lot!
