What Was The Ladyboy Scene Like 15-20 Years Ago?

Sorry no photos. Spent two RandRs in Bangkok in 1970, stayed in the Miami Hotel about Suk Soi 11 there about (Miami Hotel still there). When we arrived we were warned about cross dressers and how they easily passed for women. Also they would rip you off and knife you if you refused to pay. Do not remember any bars being off limits because of ladyboy action.
I believe we took a taxi to Pat Pong, pulled up to the front of a hugh bar with outdoor seating as well as indoor seating. Went inside had a few drinks cozzied up to a girl and wam you were out the door long time.
There was also a Mexican Restraurant along Sukhumvit which had a midget dressed up with a sombero who acted as door man.

Six days in Bangkok it was heaven. On a trip to Cambodia in 2002 reminded me of Vietnam in the 70s.

The ladyboy action was very low key in the 70s and what there was appears to have been mostly under the radar.

Bhat buses were  10 baht  and painted  blue. my  2  friends and i used to share taxi  from bangkok for 600 bhat, and we were living it up
the road used to be small and pass through chonburi  and baan sang   na gklua etc before you arrived at  the  north pattaya  rd
( pattaya nua).
There was  the  beach road and mainly  open air beer bars, few gogo bars in soi diamond  . marine bar was the big pick up  joint with boxing and bars  snake show,( sam old  bag is still doing the commenty last time i was there in 2005).
the second  road was starting to come together with rainbow  bowling and massage  sabai land and sabai room.  there were rumors around that any girl in a massage parlor  with triple number  (ie 222) was a ladyboy and beware.. the ladyboy sceen was quiet as the  girls were  hot   fun and friendly.  caligular started  before limaquai,  and there  were a few  ladyboys around  the beach road and  marine   bar.they always seeemed darker and more lithe than they are now
The belgian embassy was one of the first bars and short time places to open on soi??? forget???  the welcome inn.  allways a great place still is.
the tahitian queen  was   and still is the original gogo bar inpattaya, home to the hash house harriers.along with the wild elephant
what else  can i tell ya
short times were  100- 200 bhat and most girls wanted to stay all night  from 300- to 500  for a go go  girl. the girls would  take you back to there  bungalow if you wanted,or they would stay with you. everything was    great.  never and still dont get any problems in thailand.
in those days there was no  walking street and you  could turn up on a bike at any time of the night morning and  pick up a babe, pull up look around point and she was no the back of the bike  hugging and squeezing you  and promisiing you best blow  job and  fuck in the world.

factoring in inflation compounded over two decades, today's prices for partying in pattaya seem not too bad. and the baht bus is *still* 10 baht!!
great to hear the stories and the shared memories, but i gotta agree, just about any era is the 'golden age' when seen thru nostalgic eyes.

although that limotquai babe from 1987 (post #25) appears to be a hottie and far superior to anything hanging out there now...or anything i was nailing then, back here in the usa, as i stupidly waited til the 21st century to discover the LOS for myself.
