Hi all,
Just arrived home from LOS and thought I would share an interesting experience in Phuket with you.
Was staying at Patong Beach Hotel in Phuket and decided to take two girls back to my room one night.
I could swear that upon check-in I was told additional room guests would incur a charge of 300 baht per person. I take particular notice of these things and actually relayed the informaton back to the receptionist at the time to make sure, and she again confirmed this.
Anyway next night around 3am, I arrive at the hotel with two girls in tow (was having a night off from LB's). I arrive at the reception desk to authorise payment of guest fees. However when I am given the receipt to sign I see a figure of 6,000 baht. Of course I thought they had made a mistake as 2 x 300 = 600 not 6,000! So I point this out, only to be told it is 3,000 baht per guest. I tell the receptionist that I was told 300 baht at check-in, but get no response.
Finally I tell the receptionist they must be joking to charge 3,000 baht per room guest, to which a fellow receptionist pulls out a laminated card which says 3,000 baht per guest and shoves it in my face.
Needless to say, I thought I could spend my 6,000 baht more wisely, thanked them for their assistance and duely found a short time room for 500baht.
I suspect in hind sight, this was actually just their way of saying we don't want room guests of this kind.
Interested to hear any other stories from this hotel.
I know in Bangkok the most I have ever paid for an additional room guest was 1100 baht at the Montien Hotel.
cheers,
Ice
