Just curious, but I've run across far too many potential masseusses that say they are certified from Wat Po. I'm not even familiar with Wat Po, so it doesn't mean a whole lot to me, but my question is if there's a good way to see that the person is indeed certified from this school/temple?

Also, while I haven't negotiated with this beautiful young lady before, I would assume that the prices she quotes are service-only. I would assume she would negotiate travel rates on top of what she quotes for the massage.

The best massage I've ever had was at a place that specialized in "Thai style" massage. Is Wat Po based on traditional Thai style or styles?

My experience was very intense, and in 10 minutes I was afraid I would not be able to last 1 hour. Some maniac had booked 2 hours of a more intense version. The experience was fantastic. The best ever.

It'll be years before I'm in Thailand, but could anyone explain differences in Thai massage styles? Wikipedia just says two things that are unusual - traditional Thai massage is usually 2 hours, and oils aren't involved. Ozzie mentioned oils, though.

I agree that a non-sexual massage is best if you need a massage. If you need sex, get sex. People who offer sex probably do a shit job at massages. A good massage is very hard work for the masseuse and takes real training. Think you can do a good hour long massage? Try doing 8 of them a day. That's serious labor.

I have a friend who is certified in massage in Wat Po. They do get a certificate to prove the tests they have done and all that, it would be an odd request any day to ask for proof, however, if you do when you book, I'm sure, she'll bring a copy for you .....................

Thai massage is the hardest for the person to do, especially the thumbs that can get very soar, they really have to watch out in what ways they use their hands (not only for the HJ... :-)... )

Thai massage is adding pressure on you, while oil is more stroking your meridians and muscles.

In fact; if you get a proper thai massage daily you would end up feeling really tired after just a week or so, it goes much deeper than you would think.
