Why are shemales or ladyboys becoming so popular?

(razrman @ Jun. 27 2007,00:37) Coming back to the topic... I think the internet helped a great deal. In Singapore for example, there were ladyboys in the 70s, Bugis Street etc. but they were few and far between. A lot of people didn't even know the pleasure they could give.
But the net made more people aware of the delights of ladyboys and that in turn, IMHO caused the more effeminate males to come out in the open as it became gradually more acceptable. I'm not complaining

Of course, but some theories just seem so odd as to be unbelievable. I would put this one in there with stickmans theories why "alpha males" are attracted to ladyboys and I€™ll provide a bit more info as to why it blows me away below.

Many become ladyboys so early in life, there is just no way it could be driven by a reaction to paraphrase your theory of €œthe fast one girls have been pulling over them for years€. Over and over again I have heard how from their first childhood memories they believed they were a woman, how they were drawn to as little kids putting on mom€™s lipstick, girls toys, and so on. I would love to see a statistical graph however of the age of awareness. But short of that, discounting the age of awareness commonly occurs this early is denial. Why don€™t you rent the movie Beautiful Boxer? It€™s a movie about the real life of a ladyboy from Chiang Mai.

That just sounds an awful lot like tourists who say judging by what they have seen, most thai girls are hookers. Just because you see loads of ladyboys around nanaplaza, don€™t let that blind you to the fact there are 10 MILLION other people in this city doing other things that have nothing to do with sex and where the ladyboys work in theatres, restaurants, offices, shopping malls, and all forms of normal jobs their whole life. I have spent considerable years in all 4 provinces of Thailand and many nearby countries. I can agree you can find pay for sex in smaller places, but your comments from what I have seen are unbalanced to believe they become ladyboys for the sex money since so many don't even do that at all!

Peer pressure is totally the opposite. Life is more difficult for a ladyboy. The jokes, the staring, the reconciliation with parents; they go through a very difficult path. I remember one telling me she won€™t ride the skytrain because of all the staring. Others are disowned from their family for it. It would be much easier to just take off the makeup after work rather than change their entire life to being a girl.

There are many reasons why a ladyboy would or would not elect to have each particular surgery both financial and otherwise. And isn€™t that interesting how that even though the prospects for pay for sex are typically much smaller after SRS, so many go and do it anyway?

Fair enough. Just FYI I don€™t have a concrete theory on why there are so many ladyboys in Thailand, but I€™m always looking for them and contemplating them.

Well, there is a theory, which I don't agree on by the way, which says all LB admirers are latent gay men, and go for LBs because they create an illusion of not being gay but having a gay experience. Not my words. But words of some aggressive LBs on www.trans-academia.com.

I personally have zero attraction to men, so this doesn't work for me. In my case, I feel neither homosexual nor heterosexual. An admirer of LBs is a different category, but for me, near 90% heterosexual.

However, I can't toss the theory out, so anyone like to comment that they go for LBs because it's a less confrontational (public) way of experiencing gay sex, and really, they are gay?

been coming to thailand since 1990
there are becoming less and less girly bars regulations etc etc
less girls about and the quality is definatley getting poor

ladyboys are in genral a static population but becoming more and more accepted in the tourist areas hence more about

the internet is full of cheap sex and where to get it ladyboy wise (thailand)

and the bar owners have figured out theres money in them ladyboys

hence more and more bars that cater to my tastes

i agree with most of thge points raised here, but in thailand particularly i really think alot of them are just blokes trying to get on the band wagon and make money out of tourists.
Fuck me look at pattaya 1000's of fem boys pling there trade, most who will never go the whole way and get implants and hip enhancements.Most look like blokes in drag to me, deffinatly not what im looking for lol also there suni plaza where alot of guys go lookin for there fem boys.

This one is easy. Go to Tangmo in Patong. If the Gay waiters in their tighty whities give you a hard on your definitely Gay. If not then your not. The LB performers in the same venue turn you on. Not gay.
